Sr. Copywriter
**40-hours a week, in office Tuesday-Thursday, duration dependent on workload needs but potential for conversion**
A Houston marketing agency is looking for somebody who can put their storytelling power to work for clients across a variety of industries and formats.
The Senior Copywriter will work with strategists, art directors and other team members to come up with concepts that help clients accomplish their objectives in a way that's effective and original. This means someone not just good with words but also good with ideas and experiences. In addition, you'll perform a variety of pure copywriting and content generation. Every day will be different, so candidates must be comfortable switching between concept and execution work. Lots of brainstorming, bouncing new ideas off of other team members and asking "What if?"
Responsibilities
- Brainstorming fearlessly with other team members to help develop effective concepts and creative approaches
- Helping come up with THE BIG IDEA
- Writing consistent, clear, original and persuasive copy for video, web, mobile, social, print, outdoor, direct marketing, editorial and other formats, all with an eye toward delivering on each client's business, brand and marketing objectives
- Supporting brand experiences with copy that's appropriate yet distinctive for that
particular client's industry - Completing assignments on deadline; sometimes on a tight deadline
- Working both collaboratively and independently at various times
- Juggling multiple assignments of varying nature and priority
- Interfacing with designers in developing appropriate graphics and formats that will enhance the message and heighten response/performance
- Performing all of the basic administrative things professional creatives do such as attend meetings, read briefs, collaborate with others, complete timesheets, etc.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional copywriting experience
- Experience with concept development and brainstorming (must be able to talk through your thought process with examples)
- A portfolio of creative work showcasing your creative words and ideas
- The discipline and work ethic to create great work time and again
- An understanding of basic marketing, branding and advertising principles
- Ability to adhere to project deadlines, mandatories and parameters
- Must be able to maintain a consistent voice for clients across multiple touchpoints
- Knowledge of the basic laws of grammar; an ear for language and a working familiarity with popular copy styles (AP, Chicago, etc.)
- Able to manage stressful situations well, stay organized and put in extra hours when needed
- Bachelor's degree in creative writing, advertising, communications, journalism,
marketing or a related discipline nice but we have an open mind
In this position, you may have access to client or customer systems, confidential and/or proprietary information or data. This position is onsite and requires you to work closely with other individuals in a collaborative team environment.
