Job Description
ABOUT SLATE
At Slate, we’re building safe, reliable vehicles that people can afford, personalize and love—and doing it here in the USA as part of our commitment to reindustrialization. The spirit of DIY and customization runs throughout every element of a Slate, because people should have control over how their trucks look, feel, and represent them.
| WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We're looking for a Senior Compensation Analyst to join our growing Total Rewards function. You'll be a key contributor to building and scaling compensation programs at a critical stage of our growth: from job architecture and market benchmarking to comp cycle execution and day-to-day partnership with HRBPs, Recruiters, and Finance. This role requires someone who is analytically sharp, deeply collaborative, and comfortable operating in an environment where the playbook is still being written.
| WHAT YOU GET TO DO
Conduct and interpret market pricing analyses using established survey sources (e.g., Radford) to inform pay decisions and maintain competitive positioning across the organization.
Support the design, administration, and continuous improvement of Slate Auto's compensation structures, including base salary ranges, variable pay programs, and equity guidelines.
Partner with HRBPs and Talent Acquisition to evaluate roles, develop job profiles, and provide compensation recommendations that are consistent with our job architecture framework.
Play a key role in the annual and mid-year compensation review cycles, from data preparation and modeling to communications and system execution in Workday.
Maintain and improve compensation data integrity in Workday, ensuring accuracy across employee records, job codes, salary grades, and related compensation fields.
Build and maintain compensation models, dashboards, and reporting tools that give leaders and the HR team visibility into pay equity, budget utilization, and market alignment.
Conduct pay equity analyses and proactively surface insights and recommendations to support a fair and transparent pay philosophy.
Respond to compensation inquiries from managers, HRBPs, and candidates, serving as a credible, consultative resource for the business.
Stay current on compensation trends, regulatory changes, and emerging practices in the EV and tech sectors to inform program design.
Support ad hoc compensation projects and special initiatives as the function scales.
| WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM
5–8 years of compensation experience, ideally within a high-growth tech, manufacturing, or EV/automotive environment.
Strong analytical foundation. You are fluent in Excel/Google Sheets modeling and comfortable turning complex data into clear, actionable recommendations.
Hands-on Workday experience is strongly preferred, including participation in comp cycles, job profile setup, and reporting.
Demonstrated experience with market pricing and benchmarking methodologies using major compensation surveys.
Familiarity with job architecture design and career framework development.
Experience supporting equity programs and understanding how equity fits into a total rewards strategy.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with a high degree of ownership and follow-through.
Excellent communication skills — you can translate compensation concepts clearly for non-expert audiences, including managers and business leaders.
A collaborative, team-oriented approach with the ability to build trust-based relationships across the HR team and the broader organization.
High integrity and discretion when handling sensitive compensation data.
| Nice to Have
CCP (Certified Compensation Professional) designation or active progress toward certification.
Experience at a startup, newly public company, or organization building out compensation infrastructure from an early stage.
Exposure to executive compensation, variable pay or compensation across different workforces.
Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or similar platforms.

About Slate Auto
At Slate, we’ve got one job: building a vehicle you’ll fall in love with, right here in the USA.
We believe that car buyers—not car companies—should call the shots.
We like looking at a road, not a screen.
We don’t like paying for stuff we don’t need.
We like picking out the stuff we do need.
We think dings are badges, not blemishes.
But we know not everyone likes what we like.
So, we built you a Slate: you make it yours.
