Our well-known nonprofit client is looking for a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to build new web applications, support integrations, and evolve existing platforms at the organization.
This position is hybrid in Monterey, CA and requires the candidate to be local and able to be onsite when needed (on average up to 5x/month).
Key Responsibilities:
- Writing clean, reusable code in PHP and JavaScript across front-end and back-end applications
- Building secure, scalable web apps that follow industry and accessibility standards
- Prototyping features for stakeholder feedback and refining based on input
- Deploying code and managing releases across environments
- Leading and contributing to Agile environments including daily scrums, sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives
- Mentoring junior developers and supporting technical growth across the team
- Exploring new technologies and applying best practices in software development
- Documenting code, logic, and purpose for long-term maintainability
- Developing secure client-server communication, ensuring proper authentication and access
Required Experience/Skills:
- Minimum 5-8+ years of full stack object-oriented development
- Demonstrated experience in PHP, JavaScript, MySQL, and JavaScript frameworks (such as React and JQuery)
- Experience in the following tools/platforms: DDev, XDebug, search in either Algolia and/or ElasticSearch, CMS platform like platform.sh and/or Craft CMS, and GitHub
- Experience managing cloud infrastructure (AWS) including EC2, RDS, and virtual servers
- Familiarity with SQL Server, MVC, and building RESTful APIs
- Knowledge of DevExtreme, version control (Git/SVN), object-oriented design patterns, and secure coding practices
- Experience working on large projects with cross-functional departments
- Experience building accessible user interfaces (ARIA, screen reader support, high contrast modes)
- Ability to work independently, mentor others, and collaborate cross-functionally
- Familiarity with project management tools such as Asana, Jira and Confluence
- A healthy mix of accountability, problem-solving skills, and a sense of humor
- Preferred:
- Experience in Salesforce including DataCloud, SalesForce CRM, MarketingCloud, and programming in Salesforce Apex
- Full-stack development experience in .NET framework, SQL Server, AWS
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams
- Prior work in mission-driven or nonprofit environments
