Due to continued growth, BAE Systems has an opening for a Senior Principal II Electrical Design Engineer with Space experience in Manassas, VA. BAE Systems is one of the world's leading defense contractors and a stable Fortune 500 Company. This specific opening is within our Space Systems product line. The Manassas, VA site is the headquarters of the BAE Systems Space Systems product line and has a long heritage of premier Radiation Hardened processors dating back to the 90s servicing satellites as well as extraterrestrial missions including all of the Mars Rovers.

The position will be a part-time, on-call position focusing on supporting the Hardware Engineering and Microelectronics groups in Manassas, VA. This role will be responsible for generating our Top Level Drawings (TLDs) for our internally design integrated circuits including memories, ASICs, and processors. This role requires collaborating with different Engineering functions including RTL designers, package designers, and Systems Engineers. This role requires a knowledge and understanding of chip-level components including experience dealing with requirements, specifications and data sheets. This position will support Engineering as we push our products towards release and then into the market.

This position is considered an on-call position. The hours needed will vary week to week, but are expected to average 3-5 hours per week. The on-call piece is to demonstrate that hours could vary from one week to another based on how many programs require support.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

Integrated Circuit Design Experience
Experience working on larger Engineering teams
Strong written and oral communication skills
Self-starter and a good team player
Ability to mentor
Strong debug and problem-solving skills
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering (or similar field)

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

Advanced degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering
Experience in hardware design and hands-on lab debug
Experience supporting Space hardware electronics

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $146670 - $249330

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.

Temporary employees generally are not eligible for BAE Systems benefits, but can elect to participate in the 401(k) savings plan. Temporary employees working 20+ hours per week are eligible for medical benefits, the employee assistance program, and business travel accident insurance.
