Overview

Job Title: Senior Performance Engineer
Location:  REI; City: Sumner; State: Washington. Telecommuting required. Eligible to telecommute within normal commuting distance of Seattle, WA. Remote considered within U.S..

Job Description: Lead the overall design, strategy, planning and execution of performance testing activities for a broad range of applications and platforms including building repeatable performance testing frameworks for e-commerce products. Review specifications, architecture, and design for various software implemented by REI. Ensure all digital/physical retail and back-end systems meet established performance and load standards as defined by business partners and system owners. Responsible for designing and executing performance testing activities for a broad range of applications and platforms. Drive performance strategy with the proper mix of business knowledge and technical leadership. Work closely with architects and technical leads to define the long-term strategy for repeatable and scalable performance testing activities within the organization. Work closely with product management, software developers and system engineers and participate in design discussions to understand system performance requirements. Conduct performance, scalability, and reliability tests of business tools, third party applications and consumer-facing e-Commerce applications. Design, orchestrate and analyze load and performance tests using a variety of testing tools (e.g. LoadRunner, JMeter), statistics and analysis techniques. Analyze and communicate performance test results, bottlenecks, sizing guidelines, and recommended improvements for Java applications and database specific issues. Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation. Telecommuting required. Eligible to telecommute within normal commuting distance of Seattle, WA. Remote considered within U.S.


Responsibilities and Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:         Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Math, Engineering or a closely related field, or the foreign degree equivalent; and Five years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience with benchmark testing, performance analysis, and measurement of highly scalable eCommerce systems using Loadrunner, JMeter and Junit, including automated performance, scalability, and stress testing. This experience must include the following:

    5 years of experience in load and capacity testing of SAP Web and SAP GUI applications5 years of experience working with distributed Unix or Linux-based systems; J2EE Application Servers including JBoss and Tomcat; MQ messaging systems; Oracle RAC clustered DB systems; and CVA and Subversion Source control systems.5 years of experience using JVM Tuning for troubleshooting and tuning Java applications
    3 years of experience mentoring junior engineering staff in performance testing methodology and practice3 years of experience with test automation in a continuous integration environment3 years of experience in Order Management and Payment Systems and in SAP Performance EngineeringOne year of experience testing Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) technology
Must be willing & able to participate in on-call rotation for 24x7 service requirement. Experience may be gained concurrently.

Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include a wide array of factors, including: your specific skills and experience, geographic location or other relevant factors.   

The pay range for this role is: $152,443 to $177,400 per year.
