Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to support our work as a prime contractor on high-profile U.S. Navy facility development, recapitalization, and construction projects. Accuracy, integrity, subject matter expertise, and the ability to work well independently and with others are important traits we expect the successful candidate to possess and demonstrate.


The senior engineer is responsible for providing input to comprehensive MILCON documentation and the mechanical portion of preliminary construction cost estimates.


Candidate will also be required to manage and/or support other disciple tasks as needed. Must also work with and support corporate Safety, Health, Environment (SHE) personnel to maintain a safe work environment and ensures compliance with safety objectives and policies.


Maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

Minimum education and years of related/relevant professional work experience required: Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET Accredited program and at least eight years of related/relevant professional work experience.


Additional skills/experience required:

  • Professional work experience with mechanical HVAC, plumbing and gas & fluid distribution systems including HVAC equipment sizing and selection, building domestic water & sewage system sizing, piping sizing calculations.
  • Experience performing design requirements and constructability reviews of detailed design submittal packages
  • Must be proficient with MS Office Suite programs including Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams
  • Desire to attain a Professional Engineer License once in the position.

Technical Knowledge and Proficiency

  • Experience with building energy modelling software, such as Trane Trace, Carrier HAP

Communication

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Good writing skills to document facility requirements and make the necessary reports and correspondence.

Professionalism

  • Excellent interpersonal skills used when interfacing, coordinating, and negotiating with colleagues, auditors, customers and vendors.
  • Understanding of project managerial relationships and operations.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment and make sound decisions while complying with policies, procedures, appropriate principles and applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Good planning, time management and organization skills.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Professional knowledge of ASHRAE Standards, ASME Codes, & International Mechanical Cod
  • Professional experience performing mechanical calculations associated with ventilation system sizing
  • Professional experience of Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), Unified Facilities Guide Specifications (UFGS)
  • Previous experience in performing design drawings and supporting calculations associated industrial facilities
  • Experience in the design, development or implementation of MILCON facilities
  • Knowledge of Microsoft ACCESS or similar databases
  • Professional Engineer License
