The Senior Grant Accountant plays an integral role in manages the financial logistics of organizational grants. The Senior Grant Accountant has a clear and thorough understanding of all organizational grants and can effectively and efficiently manipulate grant data and report on grant data retrieval.
Essential Functions:
- Prepares and maintains financial records, schedules, and reporting in accordance with GAAP and grant award/contract conditions. This includes but is not limited to monitoring expenses charged to grants to ensure compliance with grant award/contract conditions for expense allowability.
- Manages budget tracking and billing throughout the life cycle of grants or contracts. Including but not limited to updating monthly Grant Revenue schedules and a 3-way reconciliation between budget tracking worksheets, Accounts Receivable module, and reported revenue; and assisting with development of budgets for new grant awards and subsequent amendments and/or renewals.
- Ensures Grants Management 8module contains all required updated information.
- Prepares monthly/quarterly bill/invoice to grantor for timely remittance of funds. Ensures expenses billed are allowable per grant conditions. Monitors and informs Grant Management Team as well as leadership on outstanding receivables.
- Identifies, analyzes, and monitors variance trends and performance against grant and financial budgets and forecasts. Addresses variances and proposes actionable resolutions aligned with organization goals.
- Assists with preparation of schedules for annual Financial Audit, Federal Program Audit, 990 Tax Return, Medicare Cost Report, and other audits as applicable.
- Serves as liaison with Grants Management Department on compliance items.
- Reconciles assigned balance sheet accounts monthly.
- Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
- Performs other duties as. required.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or Business Administration or equivalent experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3+ years of accounting, audit, grant accounting, and/or accounting healthcare experience
- CPA License
- Intermediate user of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Work experience with cloud based or ERP systems.
