- Design and Develop Electronic Systems: Create and implement electronic systems including schematic capture, PCB layout, and prototyping. Perform hands-on design and development of analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuits for medical devices.
- Embedded Software & Firmware Development: Write and maintain embedded firmware and control software to support device functionality, system control, and product integration.
- Prototype Construction and Testing: Build, test, and troubleshoot prototypes to validate design performance, ensuring alignment with IEC60601-1 4th edition safety and compliance standards.
- Product Validation and Verification: Execute comprehensive product verification and validation activities in accordance with medical device regulatory standards, ensuring product readiness for full-scale production.
- Documentation and Compliance: Prepare, review, and maintain electrical engineering documentation, design files, and work instructions compliant with ISO13485 and internal quality systems.
- Cross-Functional Technical Development: Translate marketing and sales requirements into engineering specifications and technical solutions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D, QA/RA, and manufacturing to support product development and enhancements.
- Vendor and Supply Chain Coordination: Manage vendor relationships, request and evaluate quotes, and oversee component sourcing and prototype schedules to meet project timelines and budget requirements.
- Engineering Process Leadership: Champion and enforce electrical engineering best practices, standardization, and continuous improvement throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Preferred, Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering
- Minimum of 8+ years of directly related experience in electrical engineering, specifically in medical device or related industries.
- Proficiency in EDA software such as Altium (3+ years of experience preferred) or similar tools
- Proven experience in designing and validating electronic systems, including schematic capture, PCB layout, and prototype testing.
- Extensive experience working with regulatory and safety standards, including IEC60601-1 4th edition, and collaborating with external test agencies for product verification and validation.
- Well-versed in IPC, ISO, and IEC standards, with the ability to apply these standards in day-to-day engineering tasks.
- Programmable logic design experience, including working with FPGAs, CPLDs, and other logic devices (preferred).
- Familiarity with high voltage systems (preferred).
- Familiarity with analog, digital, and mixed-signal design principles (preferred).
- Familiarity with RF design principles (preferred).
- Knowledge of C compilers and coding (desired but not mandatory).
- Experience with video processing and/or x-ray imaging (desired but not necessary).
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project for documentation, project tracking, and reporting.
- Electronics Design: Extensive experience with schematic capture, PCB layout, and simulation of electronic circuits and systems.
- Embedded Systems Design: Proficiency in software design for programmable logic or control of embedded systems, including microprocessor (8/16/32-bit) design.
- Regulatory Compliance: Experience in verifying products meet regulatory and safety standards, including working with external test agencies for compliance (e.g., IEC60601-1).
- Technical Documentation: Solid experience in authoring technical and regulatory-driven documents, including design files, work instructions, and compliance reports.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with cross-functional teams and document technical requirements effectively.
- High Voltage Systems: Hands-on experience with high voltage systems and power supply design, including Buck/Boost and Flyback topologies.
- EDA Tools: Proficiency with EDA tools for schematic capture and PCB layout (e.g., Altium or similar).
- Power Supply Design: Knowledge of power supply design, especially in Buck/Boost and Flyback configurations.
- Digital and Analog Circuit Design: In-depth knowledge and experience in digital and analog circuit design across a variety of systems.
- High Frequency (RF) Design: In-depth knowledge and experience in design of RF electronics across a variety of systems.
- Programmable Logic Design: Understanding of programmable logic design, including FPGAs, CPLDs, and other logic devices.
- Medical Device Design: Experience in the design of medical devices (preferred but not mandatory), with knowledge of related industry regulations and standards.
- Video Processing & Imaging (Desired): Experience with video processing and/or x-ray imaging systems (desired but not mandatory).
- Embedded Programming (Desired): Basic knowledge of embedded programming (desired but not mandatory).
- Professional Development: Ongoing education or professional development to stay current on industry trends, new technologies, and best practices within electronics and medical device design.
