This job helps REI succeed by offering centralized and seamless compensation support to internal clients. Through expertise and strategic problem-solving, this role partners with key stakeholders. It delivers solutions that are fair, timely, and relevant to market and business conditions. Responsibilities and Qualifications

  • Consult with HR Business Partners and business leaders to solve complex business problems using established compensation standards, best practices, and guidelines.
  • Evaluate pay and provide recommendations at key moments in the employee lifecycle, including promotions, market adjustments, and lateral moves.
  • Provide professional advice on all compensation related matters, including pay equity, salary structures and incentive plans.
  • Manage the annual salary planning and incentive cycle for assigned client groups. This includes auditing, reporting, and coordinating rollup meetings with business leaders.
  • Implement and maintain compensation programs that reflect REI’s values and compensation philosophy.
  • Research external market practices and industry-specific data to inform compensation program enhancements.
  • Maintain a high-level of business knowledge of client groups and industry.
  • Conduct external and internal market studies proactively. Evaluate competitiveness and develop solutions. Manage action plans with key partners and business leaders.
  • Evaluate jobs and recommend changes to job families that support evolving business needs.
  • Ensure pay practices are equitable and compliant with all applicable local laws and union agreements.

Required Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience in compensation consulting and program delivery supporting complex client groups
  • Previous experience with Store and/or Distribution Center compensation programs and practices, preferred
  • Exceptional business acumen and business-oriented mindset
  • Exceptional consulting and problem-solving skills
  • In-depth knowledge of compensation practices, job examination, market pricing, and job evaluation methodologies
  • Exceptional critical and quantitative skills with a commitment to accuracy
  • Excellent communication (written, verbal, and graphic) and interpersonal skills, with ability to effectively communicate technical information to varying audiences
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of relevant employment laws and regulations
