Business Development Officer - Life Science

The Business Development Director will collaborate with the Americas Corporate sales team to enhance Moody's presence by forging new connections, developing client relationships, and identifying growth opportunities. The focus will be on Life Science, Health Care, Healthcare Technology, Healthcare Support Services, and Healthcare Providers.

  • Understand the client base and market opportunities globally within the sub-sector.
  • Collaborate with sales, product, and marketing teams to drive market engagement and raise awareness of Moody's vision and expertise.
  • Develop a network of senior stakeholders (CIOs, CFOs, CCOs, CEOs, CROs) to connect with Moody's executive leadership and participate in client advisory boards.
  • Conduct self-initiated meetings to broaden touchpoints within our Strategic Corporate business.
  • Identify and participate in key industry events to expand Moody's reach and network.
  • Establish strong links with key industry associations.
  • Source new opportunities through event participation, client networking, customer profiling, and market intelligence.
  • Work with the product management team to understand the latest offerings and share market feedback.
  • Highlight specific growth opportunities to senior management.
  • Provide support, coaching, and training to colleagues on specific opportunities.
  • Refer client information to salespersons, potentially leading to sales activities.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop an outreach plan, including PR, conferences, event appearances, speaking engagements, and publications.
  • Identify opportunities, analyze risk/reward trade-offs, screen candidates, and build business cases.
  • Support the Manager with strategies to accelerate GTM success.
  • Leverage AI technologies to enhance decision-making, streamline processes, and drive innovation within the role and across Moody's.

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate/first-level degree (e.g., Bachelor's) required.
  • Graduate/second-level degree preferred (e.g., MBA, Master's, or Ph.D.).
  • Typically, 10-12 years of industry experience within the given sub-sector for Corporates.
  • Proven track record of developing a network of clients and nurturing relationships with risk professionals.
  • Broad understanding of the competitive landscape for products and services in Life Science, Health Care, Healthcare Technology, Healthcare Support Services, and Healthcare Providers.
  • Experience in publishing and delivering thought leadership through research, publications, and speaking engagements (preferred).
  • International experience preferred.
  • Clear written and oral communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to a senior audience.

For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is$143,800.00-$208,600.00, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation. Moody's also offers a competitive benefits package, including not but limited to medical, dental, vision, parental leave, paid time off, a 401(k) plan with employee and company contribution opportunities, life, disability, and accident insurance, a discounted employee stock purchase plan, and tuition reimbursement.
