Job Summary
As a Trauma Injury Prevention Coordinator RN with guidance from the Trauma Program Manager. Coordinate and assist Injury Prevention Programs and help elevate regional outcomes by spreading awareness and expertise.
What You'll Do
- Review trauma data from hospitals and communities to identify patterns and injury risk factors for prevention strategies. This strategy, updated yearly, will be based on local, regional, and national statistics as well as new laws.
- Plan injury prevention activities annually. From facility to national levels. Join committees. Record activities for reporting.
- Implement alcohol screening procedures to identify patients with alcohol abuse problems, in line with standards set by medical bodies.
- Identify suitable funding sources, such as grants, and carry out the application process to support the injury prevention scheme.
- Maintain the trauma website and social media with regular updates on the Trauma Blog and Facebook page.
- Be part of multidisciplinary research on injury prevention aimed at reducing identified injuries.
- Act as a knowledgeable source of information for media coverage related to injury prevention education and public service announcements.
What Will Make You Successful In The Role
- You'll need a general understanding of Epidemiology terminology, theories, and their application.
- Knowing laws, norms, and regulations, plus requirements for certification and accreditation is important. Understanding hospital and department guidelines for nursing care is necessary.
- To be successful, learn medical terms, health tools, medicines, and possible side effects and reactions. Understanding health is important.
- Effective verbal and written communication is a key aspect of the role.
- It is important to have critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Necessary computer skills include Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling, payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.
- Experience in Trauma/Emergency/Critical Care is a valuable plus.

LOCATION:Baylor Scott & White Health Medical Center, McKinney, Texas
SPECIALTY/DEPARTMENT: Trauma Center
SHIFT/SCHEDULE:Full time, 8-hour days, Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. with some flexibility to work evenings and/or weekends for health fairs, etc. No call or holidays.
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in Nursing.
- A minimum of three years' experience in the field is desired.
- RN license.
- Applicants must have BLS certification, or get it within 30 days of hire.
