About This Role

The Resource Demand Forecasting Lead will be responsible for managing and forecasting resource needs across multiple functions in our Quantitative Sciences and Development Operations (QSDO) organization, to ensure efficient utilization and deployment of internal Biogen (FTE) and functional service provider (FSP) resources. This role involves analyzing supply and demand data, leading development of resource algorithms for forecasting, and cross functional collaboration to provide a single source of truth for clinical trial resource demand and supply planning.

What You'll Do

  • Resourcing Strategy: Develop and share recommendations for resourcing strategies adapted to study delivery and portfolio objectives
  • Resourcing Algorithm Development: Develop, update and refine role and study-level resourcing algorithms in partnership with function heads.
  • Resource Forecasting: Develop and maintain capacity forecasts for study resourcing including FTEs (internal) and FSPs (external).
  • Market Analysis: Conduct market analysis to stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and relative performance in resource management and apply relevant insights to the organization's strategy
  • Collaboration: Build strong working relationships with function and study leadership, senior management, finance, and portfolio managers to align resource planning with business objectives.
  • Data Analysis: Collaborate with function resource managers to align resource projections with utilization and apply strategic data-based insights to inform resource demand estimates.
  • Resource Adjustment: Ensure alignment of resource adjustment requests with vendor agreements.
  • Process Improvement: Evaluate opportunities to drive process efficiencies, enabling improvements in resource utilization.
  • Training and Development: As applicable, train function level stakeholders on resource management tools and processes.
  • Software and Tools: As applicable, support software implementations and integrations.

Who You Are

You are a self-starter with a strong background in resource demand forecasting. You excel in environments where your time is divided between data analysis and connecting different organizational levels to solve problems. You are passionate about making a difference.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Clinical Research, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience across the pharmaceutical, biotech or CRO sectors.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in clinical operations resource demand forecasting.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically and apply business acumen to understand future needs or paradigm changes.
  • Operational Execution: Strong focus on operational execution and the ability to set realistic expectations for meeting team deliverables.
  • Analytical Thinking: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • System Expertise: High degree of proficiency in resource management tools (e.g., Planisware).
  • Interpersonal skills: Excellent communication, stakeholder management and collaboration skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills

  • Advanced Degree
  • Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and MS-Project preferred.

Additional Information

The base compensation range for this role is: $180,000.00-$248,000.00


Base salary offered is determined through an analytical approach utilizing a combination of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills & experience, job location, and internal equity.
