The Weinberg Laboratory within the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases seeks a Research Lab Technician Sr. to support ongoing research. This is a 1-year term limited position with the possibility of extension.

Responsibilities*
- Conducting experiments, including work with infections in cultured cells and in laboratory mice
- Make recommendations on best technical approaches to investigate a scientific problem
- Assist with lab ordering and administrative aspects
- Assist with safety and regulatory compliance with various agencies related to research specimens
- Participate in laboratory meetings
- Responsible for accurate record keeping
- Interact with collaborators as necessary to provide interpretation of study results
- Communicate and make recommendations to other scientists in the team
- Assist other team members in their projects
- Train personnel in existing laboratory techniques and procedures, explain and demonstrate technology and equipment capabilities, operation limitation and outcomes
Required Qualifications*
Research Lab Tech Intermediate:
- HS Diploma or Assoc Degree
- 1-3 years experience required
Research Lab Tech Senior:
- A bachelor's degree in a related area of study
- 1-2 years experience
Desired Qualifications*
- 1+ years of laboratory experience involving laboratory mice
- Comfortable handling and performing experiments on mice
Research Lab Tech Intermediate:
- Bachelor's Degree preferred

Additional Information
This position is term-limited for about 1 year (ending June 2026) with the possibility of renewal based on need and available funding. At the end of the stated term, your appointment will terminate, and will not be eligible for Reduction-in-Force (RIF) benefits. This term-limited appointment does not create a contract or guarantee of employment for any period of time as you will remain subject to disciplinary or other performance measures, up to and including termination, at the will of the University in accordance with existing University policy and standards for employee performance and conduct.
Background Screening
Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
