The City of Chesapeake is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to provide high-quality nursing care and medical oversight to residents at Chesapeake Juvenile Services. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the well-being of youth by delivering medical services, supervising assigned staff, and maintaining communication with families and medical professionals.
Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise assigned personnel, including training, assigning and evaluating work.
• Complete admission physical/assessments.
• Deliver high-quality nursing care to residents at Chesapeake Juvenile Services.
• Conduct sick call.
• Provide emergency medical services.
• Implement physician treatment orders.
• Administer medications to residents as prescribed by the physician.
• Provide medication counseling and training to the residents.
• Make medical assessments of resident complaints and recommend treatment; refer to physician as required.
• Serves as medical liaison for residents' families, probation/parole officers, supervisors, and physicians in providing services to residents.
• Maintain an accurate inventory of medical supplies and prescription medications.
• Monitor residents during medication administration and document adverse reactions and report to the physician.
• Interpret physician instructions for residents and address any questions they may have concerning their medical treatment.
• Attends and conducts staff meetings to exchange information and resolve problems/issues.
• Complete medical discharge summaries, as needed.
• Provide health related staff training.
