Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a full-time Manufacturing Engineer for our site located in Kettering, OH. We are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic manufacturing engineer to join our team. This role will be required to work individually and with cross-functional teams to design and produce highly engineered honeycomb core components for aerospace applications. This position is within our RF Structures Engineering group, working with a talented cross-functional team including electrical, manufacturing, structural, project, and quality engineers, as well as production technicians and machinists, to design and support fabrication of high-performance structures for the aerospace industry.
Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain manufacturing process flows.
• Create and maintain process work instructions, process standards, etc.
• Identify process improvements, capture feedback from Operations, and incorporate into the manufacturing process.
• Support Statistical Process Control in various manufacturing stages.
• Support Design of Experiments.
• Review design and specification changes and ensure they are captured in the manufacturing process.
• Promptly respond to technical issues that arise on the production floor utilizing work instructions, design models, and specifications.
• Support non-conformance investigations and methodize resulting dispositions.
• Support Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA).
• Support Root Cause / Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations.
• Create and maintain Manufacturing Bills of Materials (MBOMs).

Basic Qualifications

• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret security clearance. Must not hold dual citizenship.
• Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 5+ years of relevant work experience, or a master's degree in a STEM discipline and 3+ years of relevant work experience.
• Prior experience with composite materials and processes.
• Basic knowledge of multi-axis CNC machining of composites.
• Experience with formal root cause and corrective action procedures (e.g. Fault Tree, 5-Why).
• Ability to work fluently in a digital manufacturing environment.
• Ability to work cross-functionally and drive daily execution.
• Ability to create detailed manufacturing plans and technical build packages.
Preferred Qualifications:

• Active DOD Secret security clearance.
• Prior exposure to aerospace manufacturing.
• Basic knowledge of honeycomb core bonding and machining.
• Broad scope of knowledge in composite materials, coatings, and processing.
• Basic knowledge of Oven/Autoclave curing.
• Working knowledge of Product Life Cycle Management (PLM) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software.
• Awareness of 2D and 3D Programming and Inspection software (e.g. AutoCAD, NX, Catia, PolyWorks )
• Awareness of CNC programming fundamentals, including cutter selection and general machining methodology.
• Experience with failure mode analysis (PFMEA).
Salary Range: $68,100.00 - $102,100.00Salary Range 2: $83,800.00 - $125,800.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
