Full Job Description

Community Hospitals – University Health | San Antonio, TX

University Health is expanding to better serve the diverse needs of our San Antonio community with the development of a new, state-of-the-art community hospital. This modern facility will bring high-quality, compassionate care to the city’s east side.

We are seeking a visionary and dynamic President & CEO to lead each of this new hospital and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of community healthcare in South Texas.

Opening in 2027, the University Health Retama Hospital campus will span 42 acres and feature a cutting-edge, five-story hospital. The campus will offer a full range of services, including a 24/7 Emergency Department, labor and delivery unit, NICU, inpatient units, operating rooms, radiology, and laboratory services.

The development of Retama Hospital builds on University Health’s recent efforts to expand access to primary and specialty care in Northeast San Antonio, reducing the need for residents to travel long distances for essential health services.

Key Responsibilities:

· Lead with Vision: Build and inspire a high-performing executive leadership team dedicated to excellence in patient care and operational performance.

· Physician Collaboration: Foster a culture of trust, transparency, and collaboration with medical staff, strengthening ties between physicians, employees, and leadership.

· Culture Builder: Promote a shared mission and purpose across all departments and teams, ensuring cohesive efforts toward superior patient outcomes.

· Community Engagement: Serve as a visible and engaged leader in the community—advocating for the hospital, shaping public awareness of healthcare issues, and cultivating partnerships.

· Talent Acquisition & Retention: Attract, recruit, and retain outstanding physician leaders and clinical professionals.

· Strategic Communicator: Champion clear and consistent communication across all levels of the organization to promote alignment and engagement.

· Financial Leadership: Leverage strong business and financial acumen to guide complex decisions and ensure long-term organizational sustainability in a competitive healthcare environment.

· Innovative Strategist: Develop and execute progressive strategies that position the hospitals for long-term growth and success.

Qualifications:

· Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration or a related field required.

· A minimum of 10–15 years of progressive healthcare leadership experience, with proven success managing complex, diverse healthcare operations in a community-based setting.
