JOB DESCRIPTION
The Practice Leader. Cloud and Infrastructure will provide strategic direction, leadership, and operational oversight for a team of internal practice consultants who design, develop, and deliver solutions for Apex clients. This role is responsible for ensuring high-quality project delivery, driving team performance, and aligning the practice’s capabilities with broader business goals. The Practice Leader will manage hiring, development, and mentoring a team along with building strong relationships with key stakeholders and clients. You will collaborate cross-functionality to identity growth opportunities, implement best practices, and maintain a culture of excellence and innovation within the practice.
Practice Leadership & Growth
- Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing team of cloud and infrastructure practice consultants.
- Support the execution of the strategic roadmap for the Cloud & Infrastructure practice.
- Responsible for hiring, onboarding, and professional development of practice team members.
- Foster a Community of Practice that leads with innovation, collaboration, continuous improvement and revenue growth.
- Own and deliver on internal innovation, capability building, and the creation of accelerators and reusable assets
- Oversee the successful delivery of large cloud and infrastructure projects across multiple clients.
- Lead delivery across all phases — strategy, architecture, development, testing, and deployment — ensuring alignment with client goals and business KPIs
- Operate as a delivery sponsor across engagements, ensuring quality, timelines, scope adherence, and client satisfaction
- Lead project team members and direct reports to produce high-quality deliverables, meet project deadlines, and take responsibility for engagement and team success
- Provide hands-on leadership in project planning, execution, and course correction when needed.
- Act as an escalation point for project issues and ensure timely resolution.
Solution Development & Standardization
- Oversee the design and implement repeatable, scalable, and standardized cloud and infrastructure delivery solutions by practice team.
- Collaborate with sales and pre-sales teams to develop repeatable solution architectures and proposals.
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure our offerings remain competitive.
Client Engagement & Relationship Management
- Proactively provide solutions and approach challenges with a solution-focused mindset.
- Build trust-based relationships and influence across client and internal organizations, including C-level and senior leadership acting as a trusted advisor to clients, understanding their business needs and aligning solutions accordingly.
- Support business development efforts by participating in client meetings, RFP responses, and solution presentations.
- Ensure high levels of client satisfaction and long-term relationship growth.
- BA/BS required, preferably in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or related fields OR relevant combination of education and experience
- 8+ years of progressive experience in managing Cloud infrastructure consulting engagements such as designing, implementing, and managing scalable, secure, and highly available cloud infrastructure using platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP), with expertise in services like EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, Lambda, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
- 5+ years of consulting experience and directly managing cloud and infrastructure engineers
- Multi-Cloud Strategy Assessment and Recommendation is preferred
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills — able to influence, guide, and present to executive leadership
- Proven ability to support and win new business through solutioning, proposal development, and client pitches
- Passionate about developing talent, building culture, and driving continuous improvement across teams
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills, including the ability to present complex concepts to engineering and business partners
- Experience managing nearshore/offshore delivery models or working in globally distributed environment is preferred
