Transmission Operations Support Supervisor
JOB SUMMARY:
This position provides technical leadership and guidance for the integrated System Modeling, Engineering Support, and Operational Readiness functions within the Transmission Control Center (TCC). The Modeling & Engineering Support function is responsible for the Transmission Modeling database and display development in Energy Management Systems (EMS) used by Transmission Control Center Operators. This position is responsible for ensuring completion of large projects such as LTE conversion, Transmission Capital Projects, conversion of Energy Management System (EMS), and Compliance obligations for GPC and Southern Company. Operational Readiness function includes overseeing projects and processes associated with Transmission System Resources and NERC Internal Compliance Program. Additionally, this group leads the Emergency planning process for TCC, which includes Blackstart procedures, Energy Emergency Alert (EEA), Load-shedding, Storm Restoration, Cyber-security, Physical-security, Nuclear LOSP, Business Continuity, etc.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:(Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills)
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree is required - Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering technology degree is preferred.
- An Associate degree may be considered with significant relevant experience.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Transmission, with exposure in following areas: Operations, Planning, Maintenance, Design, Construction, EMS, Operations Support, Protection & Control, Project Management, Resource Planning, or Renewables.
- Preferred experience/knowledge of:
- Power system analysis and modeling,
- GPC operating tools such as STOMP, EMS, TransMap, GPC storm and system alert practices,
- Georgia ITS processes and procedures, Redbook and Section 0
- T&D switching and clearance practices,
- NERC and FERC requirements applicable to Operations,
- Construction and maintenance practices related to clearances, and
- Customer needs related to clearances and restoration.
- Emergency planning processes including Blackstart, EEA, Load Shedding, Storm Restoration, Cybersecurity, Physical Security, Nuclear LOSP, and Business Continuity.
- Ability to manage complex projects and ensure compliance with NERC, SERC, and FERC standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to balance strategic vision and operational detail.

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Team Leadership & Development - Provide direct supervision to a high-performing team, including a Team Leader, offering the opportunity to lead through leaders. - Operational Oversight - Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of EMS and TransMap modeling across Georgia and ITS participants. Align team efforts with corporate goals and evolving regulatory requirements to support reliable system operations.
- Regulatory Compliance & Readiness - Lead the team that oversees compliance with NERC, SERC, FERC, and other regulatory standards. Supervise internal controls, audit readiness, and emergency preparedness, including drills and real-time event response. Serve as a key point of contact during operational events.
- Innovation & Process Improvement - Champion the use of automation, programming, and data-driven tools to improve modeling, compliance, and readiness. Encourage employee-led initiatives that drive innovation and efficiency.
- Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Engagement - Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Transmission customers, EMS, Technology, Protection & Control, Substation Integration, and regulatory bodies. Collaborate across departments to support enterprise-wide initiatives such as next-generation EMS implementation.
