Summary
This position functions as Patient Safety Manager at Whiteriver Service Unit, located in Whiteriver, AZ. The incumbent promotes and leads a culture of safety at the facility and proactively mitigates risk of harm to patients in coordinated program management throughout the facilities' clinical and non-clinical departments. Whiteriver Service Unit is a hospital that provides care, inpatient services and outpatient services, including an emergency department, and various ambulatory care clinics.
Duties
- Manages a Hospital wide annual patient safety risk assessment based on culture of safety survey results, analysis of patient safety reports, targeted proactive risk assessments, and tracer activity findings.
- Develops an annual Patient Safety Plan to address identified risks, track corrective action plans, and promote a culture of safety. Seeks approval of the plan through facility governance structures.
- Manages the annual Patient Safety Plan, collaborating with leaders and staff throughout the facility to meet the objectives of the plan to ensure that goals and priorities are effectively addressed throughout the year.

Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Education: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
Licensure: Applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
GS-0610-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Responsible for the day-to-day activities of the Patient Safety program consistent with facility accreditation standards, Federal regulations, best practices, and IHS policy. Manages a Hospital wide annual patient safety risk assessment based on culture of safety survey results, analysis of patient safety reports, targeted proactive risk assessments, and tracer activity findings.
OR
Completed a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree from a professional nursing educational program or related medical science field. (Must provide evidence with your application documents if qualifying using this option).
GS-0610-12:At least one (1) full year of professional nursing specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-11 grade level) such as: Reviews all patient safety reports, coordinates investigations, assesses severity of risk, assesses severity of harm, and closes reports in a timely manner, ensuring data integrity of all fields. Analyzes data to identify trends, patterns, and variations in clinical and non-clinical processes and systems to track patient safety risks and issues, communicating them and coordinating prioritization to ensure that resources are available to act on the highest priorities.
