Nuclear Medicine Technologist

Primary Patient Population:
• Underserved population in the Greater Cleveland area
• Trauma/Emergency Patients
• Cardiac Patients
• Stroke Patients
• Cancer Patients
• Orthopedics, Podiatry, Neurology, PM&R, and more.
• Operating Room/Pre-Surgical Planning
Primary skills utilized/learned:
• Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology
• IV Starts
• Produces quality Nuclear Medicine and PET images in a variety of settings
• Therapeutic planning and advanced Theranostics
• Patient scheduling and coordination for inpatients and outpatients
• Educating patients regarding procedures, equipment, medications, and examination to maintain basic understanding and comfort.
• On the spot critical thinking
• Effective communication skills
• Functions well under stress and with minimal supervision
• Works well both independently and as part of the Nuclear Medicine Team
Personnel NM Tech will work with:
• The Nuclear Medicine staff work closely with Nurses, Physicians, Respiratory Therapists, and other care team members throughout the hospital to provide the best care possible for all MetroHealth patients.
Awards or Recognitions the unit has received:
• All SPECT/CT, SPECT, and PET scanners are ACR Accredited
o Early life cycle SPECT/CT equipment at Main Campus
• All NM Technologists are credentialed through ARRT or NMTCB
• Performs a variety of technical procedures utilizing scanning equipment in the diagnosis of diseases in humans.
• Functions in a multi-purpose role depending on the needs of the patients and the department, and in line with The MetroHealth System approved policies and procedures in accordance with specific governing ODH regulations.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology Program
• Registered Radiology Technologist with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (NMTCB).
• Valid Ohio Radiographer License (ODH)
• American Heart Association BLS Certification or obtains within the standard probationary period.
Preferred:
• 5+ years of experience
Physical Requirements:
• May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and ambulate intermittently during the day.
• May need to lift, pull or push over 50 lbs.
• May need to sit or stand for extended periods.
• See in the normal visual range with or without correction.
•Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
