Position Summary

The Manager, Automation, Implementation and Development will manage the implementation and testing efforts for industrial automation projects, with a focus on ensuring the delivery of high-quality implementations of hardware, software and system documentation. This role involves planning, executing, and improving testing and development processes to ensure that all systems, application, and processes meet or exceed business requirements and standards. This role will lead/manage or collaborate closely with project teams, testing teams, developers, business analysts and operations to provide guidance on Industrial Automation process integration and implementation.

In this role, the Manager, Automation, Implementation and Development will be responsible for defining and maintaining testing and implementation strategies that align with the organization’s business goals and technology roadmap. This role will serve as a key advocate for quality throughout the software development lifecycle, ensuring thorough validation and verification of all deliverables, including both project and operations. This position will also play a vital role in identifying opportunities to integrate automation with artificial intelligence as part of a continuous improvement within operational processes, driving efficiency and scalability. Additionally, this role will focus on developing and improving comprehensive automated testing and documentation, as well as enhancing the overall framework for development and implementation processes to ensure consistency and adherence to best practices.

Essential Functions and Duties

  • Develop and implement strategies to automate test cases for projects including software development, infrastructure updates, application and hardware implementations.
  • Oversee all stages of testing (functional, performance, integration, regressions, and user acceptance) ensuring the accuracy and reliability of testing output. In addition, ensure all operational changes have the required automated test cases prior to production roll outs.
  • Work closely with project managers, business analysts, developers, and stakeholders to understand requirements and ensure quality at every stage of the development lifecycle.
  • Identify, document, and track issues through to resolution, while working with the development team to ensure timely fixes.
  • Analyze processes and suggest improvements to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of testing and quality efforts.
  • Ensure that all projects and operational changes in production comply with internal quality standards, industry best practices, and any relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Lead efforts in test automation where applicable to improve testing efficiency and coverage.
  • Provide regular reporting on progress, defect metrics, and overall quality health of projects.

  • Ensure conduct is consistent with all Compliance Program Policies and procedures when engaging in any activity on behalf of the company. Immediately report any concerns or violations.

Qualifications


Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, industrial engineering or a related field of study; or four (4) years relevant experience in lieu of degree.

Required Experience:

  • A minimum of sic (6) years [ten (10) for non-degreed candidates] of experience in MHE development and implementation, including hands-on experience with various testing MHE testing methodologies.
  • Minimum of four (4) years’ experience in a leadership role involving Industrial Automation.
  • Experience working with AGV, ASRS, Conveyance and Robotics.
  • Experience with Pick-to-Light or Put-to-Light system.
  • Experience with manual and automated picking strategies.
  • Proficiency in development and implementation of tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, Silk, HP-ALM, Load, and performance tools, etc.) and an understanding of software development practices, including hands-on coding experience.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams in a collaborative environment.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% for short periods.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with Agile and Scrum methodologies.
  • Knowledge of automation frameworks and tools for functional and non-functional testing.
  • Familiarity with IT infrastructure, cloud platforms, and enterprise applications (ERP, Data Analytics, etc.).
  • Healthcare and/or Supply Chain IT experience.

Required Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an eye for detail and quality.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Must have strong organizational skills.
  • Must be detail-oriented and have the proved ability to prioritize work.
  • Must have the ability to work with limited supervision and as part of a team.
  • Must have sound decision-making abilities.
  • Artificial Intelligence Knowledge.

Physical requirements

Vision, hearing, speech, movements requiring the use of wrists, hands and/or fingers. Must have the ability to view a computer screen for prolonged periods and the ability to sit for extended periods. Must have the ability to work the hours and days required to complete the essential functions of the position, as scheduled. The employee occasionally lifts to 20 lbs. and occasionally kneels and bends. Must have the ability to travel occasionally. Working condition include normal office setting.

Mental Demands

Learning, thinking, concentration and the ability to work under pressure, particularly during busy times. Must be able to pay close attention to detail and be able to work as a member of a team to ensure excellent customer service. Must have the ability to interact effectively with co-workers and customers, and exercise self-control and diplomacy in customer and employee relations’ situations. Must have the ability to exercise discretion as well as appropriate judgments when necessary. Must be proactive in finding solutions.
