The manager will oversee a team of platform engineers, and automation specialists—both onshore and offshore—focused on delivering cloud migration, infrastructure-as-code, observability, and platform lifecycle automation. This role blends people leadership, technical strategy, and operational governance, ensuring that platform services scale efficiently while meeting evolving business and compliance needs.
Key Responsibilities
Platform Strategy & Cloud Modernization

- Define and execute the strategic roadmap for platform engineering, infrastructure automation, observability, and lifecycle management (installation, patching, configuration, etc.).
Automation & Tooling
- Drive adoption and implementation of automation tools and frameworks such as Terraform, Ansible, SALT, Python, and PowerShell across Windows and Linux environments.
- Oversee automation of platform and application deployments, environment provisioning, configuration management, and operational workflows in both on-premises and cloud environments.
- Define metrics to evaluate automation effectiveness, platform consistency, and infrastructure scalability.
Reliability Engineering & Observability
- Champion SRE practices including SLIs/SLOs, incident response, root cause analysis, and postmortems.
- Oversee observability strategy including implementation and tuning of monitoring and alerting tools (e.g., LogicMonitor, Splunk, AppDynamics).
- Continuously improve platform resiliency and proactively reduce operational toil through automation and systemic fixes.
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead and mentor a global team of SREs, platform engineers, and automation developers; foster a culture of accountability, growth, and high performance.
- Hire, coach, and develop team members while setting clear performance goals aligned with enterprise IT strategy.
- Oversee team structure, resource planning, and execution across multiple automation and platform initiatives.
Governance, Compliance & Operational Readiness
- Ensure automation and platform processes are fully documented with up-to-date runbooks and SOPs.
- Collaborate with audit and compliance teams to support evidence collection and remediation for infrastructure controls.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Act as the primary liaison between Platform Services and business-facing application, DevOps, and infrastructure teams.
- Partner with senior IT and business leaders to align platform capabilities with business priorities and logistics support needs.
- Manage vendor relationships and contracts related to platform tools, observability, automation frameworks, and third-party services.
Required Skills and Qualifications

- 10+ years of IT experience with 4+ years in a leadership role managing infrastructure, SRE, or DevOps engineering teams.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, including cloud-native infrastructure design, automation, monitoring, and cost optimization.
- Hands-on experience with infrastructure automation and scripting (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, SALT, Python, PowerShell).
- Experience managing hybrid environments across on-prem and cloud platforms (Azure preferred).
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tooling (e.g., GitLab, Jenkins, Artifactory, SonarQube).
- Strong knowledge of system patching, and platform governance practices.
- Proven ability to lead technical teams, manage complex projects, and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to present platform strategy, KPIs, and risks to senior leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading cloud platform transformations in a large enterprise.
- Background in supply chain or logistics systems support.
- Experience managing performance reviews, pay recommendations, and staff development initiatives.
