Job Title:
Medical Director, Alzheimer's disease & Dementia, Clinical Development

About This Role:
As a Medical Director in the Alzheimer's disease & Dementia Unit (ADDU), you will play a pivotal role in advancing Biogen's innovative programs targeting Alzheimer's disease and related neurodegenerative conditions. Working across early and late-stage development, you will serve as the clinical development representative on cross-functional Study Management Teams (SMTs), helping to drive the strategic and operational execution of our clinical development plans.

This position demands strong scientific expertise, exceptional communication, and a high degree of independence. You must be proactive, detail-oriented, dependable, and solution-focused-able to act decisively within your remit while recognizing when to seek input. Flexibility and adaptability are critical in our dynamic environment, as is the ability to lead collaboratively while navigating ambiguity.

You will contribute to the design, implementation, and execution of Clinical Development Plans (CDPs) that include clear decision points and criteria for progression. Your contributions will not only shape the trajectory of our Alzheimer's portfolio but also support early research, external collaborations, and due diligence evaluations.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead the development and execution of CDPs aligned with scientific rationale, regulatory strategy, and commercial goals
  • Represent Clinical Development on Study Management Teams for ADD pipeline assets
  • Drive clinical development across the spectrum-from early-stage programs to regulatory filing and post-approval activities
  • Provide clinical development input on partnered programs and support evaluation of external opportunities through due diligence
  • Serve as the Clinical Development Lead for assigned assets within cross-functional project teams

Who You Are:
You bring deep expertise in Alzheimer's disease, neurodegeneration, or related areas, with a background spanning clinical, academic, or industry settings. You're comfortable operating with autonomy in a fluid, fast-paced setting, and you balance independent initiative with the humility to ask for guidance when needed. You're a collaborative problem-solver who thrives in matrixed environments and can communicate complex concepts with clarity and purpose.

Required Skills:

  • MD, PharmD, PhD, or MD/PhD with substantial experience in Alzheimer's disease, neurodegeneration, neurocognitive disorders or geriatric neurology
  • Minimum 5 years of clinical or research experience in the pharmaceutical industry and/or academic environment
  • Demonstrated success in cross-functional, matrixed team settings
  • Strong foundation in Alzheimer's clinical development, including experience with early and/or late-stage programs

Preferred Skills:

  • Strategic thinker with scientific depth and a proactive, adaptable mindset
  • Proven ability to lead through influence and collaborate effectively across disciplines
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, enabling clear articulation of strategy and fostering productive partnerships
