GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
As the Manager, Storeroom One, you will coordinate the activities of art shipments through the Registrars art storeroom (Storeroom One) which serves all curatorial departments for the receipt and release of artwork entering the museum. You will supervise deliveries, reception and transportation of artwork entering and leaving the storeroom. You will document condition reports and oversee the packing/unpacking of artwork.
This is a position with an established end-date or time frame. Time frames will begin upon hire: 6-Months
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
Report directly to Chief Registrar
Supervise and coordinate assignments for team of Storeroom One specialists working in Storeroom One
Supervise and coordinate assignments of drivers for art transportation
Manage vehicle maintenance, repairs, insurance renewal, annual inspection and processing invoices for three vehicles
Supervise outside vendors contracted by the Museum to collect or deliver artwork
Coordinate activities with Registrars, Storeroom One staff, and Packers to ensure smooth, efficient, and successful operation and communicate about any unexpected or unusual issues
Long range planning and coordination with registrars for space for packed and unpacked artwork and availability of personnel needed for tasks
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues in various museum departments including: Exhibitions, Curatorial, Conservation, Buildings (Handling and Custodial), Engineering, Security, and Receiving
Monitor climate control (temperature and humidity) through daily checks and weekly downloads of digital and paper hygro-thermographs. Immediate collaboration with Engineers for irregularities
Integrated pest management - constant monitoring for any signs of infestation, isolation of any objects suspected of infestation and immediate collaboration with Scientific Research
Ongoing upkeep of the Storeroom to include: inventory of materials, maintenance, repair, and weekly cleaning of the Storeroom
Assist with the preparation of condition reports and digital photography of incoming artwork, as necessary
Responsible for the security practices as described by the Transportation Safety Administration (TSA) of Storeroom One perimeter and access points, visitors to the storeroom, accuracy of TSA paperwork, and all Sensitive Security Information (SSI)
Candidate must complete Security Threat Assessment application
Archival maintenance of all related files and records
Other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in museum studies or equivalent experience required.
5 years' experience in museum registration
Experience with a broad range of art handling, packing and conservation technologies
Previous experience with Museum registration required.
Collections Management - knowledge and experience in TMS required
Excellent organizational, written and verbal skills required
Extremely detail-oriented and ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines required
Computer proficiency - Word, Excel, Outlook, Acrobat, and digital photography required
COMPENSATION RANGE:
Pay Range: $90,000.00 - $95,000.00/Annually ($45,000.00 - $47,5000.00 per Term of 6-Month Assignment)
