Position Overview:

This is a senior level position with NRG. The successful candidate will possess the skills needed to:

Effectively interact with project team members, contractors and stakeholders
Evaluate emerging scopes of work for constructability and completeness
Develop construction execution plans using departmental tools and techniques

This position will be responsible for preparing and/or assisting in the preparation of construction plans and estimates for a fleet of energy related projects (including those for utilityscale power generation construction, backend environmental controls, plant improvement, fuel conversion and facility deactivation). This position may also support active projects in execution (management assessments, change orders and baseline updates).

Duties and Responsibilities:

Exercises professional judgment and provides counsel to the DE&C Leadership Team
Complies with all applicable NRG policies, procedures, and controls
Provides planning and scheduling support for projects in development or in execution
Develops plans and schedules to support business prospects and emerging technologies
Summarizes plans and schedules to support senior NRG executive investment decisionmaking
Works with others to transform conceptual plans into project ready baselines and execution plans

Analyzes third party plans and schedules to assess constructability and marketcompetitiveness
Prepares Project Execution Plans (PEPs) and conducts project baseline reviews, as required
Assesses impact of scope or schedule changes associated with active projects, as required
Maintains library/database of execution plans and schedules for various project types
Develops sound working relationships with NRG project team members, contractors, and others
Assesses project plans and schedules to identify issues and recommend solutions

Technical Skills:

Thorough understanding of construction industry practices, methods and processes
Knowledge of construction work sequences, field disciplines and work place logistics

Understands key concepts and principles for compiling requestsforproposal, including sourcing strategies, execution techniques and risk management
Experienced in planning and scheduling large and small utilityscale power related projects
Ability to identify, analyze and provide solutions for project constructability issues
Indepth experience with Primavera is required
Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, Power Point and/or Access is desirable
AutoCad knowledge a plus

Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science (Engineering, Construction or Business) and 10 years related experience
Construction management and/or field supervision is an absolute plus; PMI certification also a plus
Excellent interpersonal skills (verbal and written communication, consensus building, etc.)
Proven ability to work with people and provide instructional guidance / coordinate team actions
Ability to handle multiple tasks under restricted time frames and with competing priorities
Knowledgeable of project financing, accounting, and control systems and processes a plus
Some travel may be required to support group functions or project specific plans and estimates
