Southern Company Services is seeking a high-impact Human Resources Business Partner to support the Technology organization as a trusted advisor to managers, supervisors and teams. This role combines strong business partnership capability with practical HR expertise and will help translate business priorities into people strategies and provide consultative support across organizational effectiveness, workforce planning, leadership coaching, talent and performance management, employee relations, and change initiatives. The successful candidate will bring sound judgment, strong relationship-building skills, and the ability to influence outcomes through data, insight, and collaboration. This position is based in downtown Atlanta, GA with some overnight travel.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Partner with Technology leaders to understand business priorities, organizational dynamics, and talent needs, and translate them into practical people strategies and actions.
- Support the execution of enterprise and business-unit HR priorities in ways that strengthen leadership capability, team effectiveness, and employee experience.
- Consult with leaders on workforce planning, organizational design, talent movement, performance, and change management to support business outcomes.
- Coach leaders and managers on team effectiveness, employee engagement, development, and accountability in alignment with Southern Company values and expectations.
- Use data, trends, and organizational insight to identify issues, assess risks, and recommend solutions that improve retention, capability, and business performance.
- Partner closely with HR Centers of Expertise, including Talent Management, Talent Acquisition, Compensation, and Inclusion, to deliver integrated solutions that support business goals.
- Collaborate across the broader HR team to ensure consistent, high-quality delivery of HR programs, processes, and employee support.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education and Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field or equivalent job experience
- PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred.
Experience:
- 5 years of progressive HR experience, including experience in an HR business partner, HR generalist, or other advisory role supporting leaders and employees in a complex organization; experience supporting corporate, professional, or technology-related teams is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in a consultative HR role supporting leaders across core disciplines such as talent management, employee relations, performance management, workforce planning, and organizational effectiveness.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Broad knowledge of key HR disciplines, including performance management, leadership development, talent and succession planning, compensation, employee relations, workforce planning, organizational effectiveness, and change management.
- Strong consulting and relationship-management skills, with the ability to build credibility and influence leaders at multiple levels of the organization.
- Strong analytical capability and comfort using workforce data, trends, and insights to inform recommendations and support sound decision-making.
- Ability to connect HR strategies to business plans and develop practical solutions in areas such as organizational design, talent planning, manager effectiveness, and change adoption.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and comfort learning and using HR systems, dashboards, and reporting tools.
- Demonstrated ability to coach and influence leaders while fostering trust, accountability, and strong team performance.
- Ability to manage competing priorities, work through ambiguity, and deliver high-quality support in a dynamic environment.
- Sound judgment and the ability to navigate sensitive situations with professionalism, objectivity, and discretion.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with care and integrity
- Ability to support and influence change by helping leaders and teams navigate transitions with clarity and confidence.
- Ability to build effective partnerships with business leaders and HR colleagues and tailor support to the needs of a technical client group.
- Excellent written, verbal, facilitation, and presentation skills.
- Self-directed, collaborative, and dependable, with the ability to work independently while contributing positively to a broader HR team.
- Strong execution focuses and commitment to delivering high-quality, business-relevant results.
- Working knowledge of employment law, HR policy, and compliance practices, with the ability to apply guidance thoughtfully in partnership with leaders and HR experts.

- Will work on special HR projects where needed.
- Ability to work in-office a minimum of 4 days per week and travel up to 25% as business needs require.
