Full Job Description

Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking a full-time Classical/Malignant Hematologist to join its expanding team, which currently includes 11 physicians and two nurse practitioners in the Hematology & Oncology Department in Temple, Texas.

Position Highlights:

  • Anticipated work schedule: Schedule Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm; one-half day for administrative time
  • Call is only while on primary inpatient service - Rotated with 8 other physicians - averaging 3 times per year
  • Consult service duties are M-F
  • Temple is BSWH largest academic flagship campus with opportunities to train medical students, residents and fellows
  • Three-year Hematology/Oncology fellowship program
  • In- house transfusion medicine department, coagulation and platelet antibody laboratories Hematopathology fellowship
  • Telehealth opportunities
  • FACT accredited Autologous Stem Cell Transplant program.
  • Active cellular therapy program with CAR-T, bi-specific therapies
  • Baylor College of Medicine - Temple campus established 2023 - May apply for academic appointment with Baylor College of Medicine
  • Patient volume: 15-20 patients per day
  • This is an employed position with a competitive salary, signing bonus, productivity bonus, moving allowance, a comprehensive benefits package, and no state income tax.
  • Temple is geographically located 1 hour north of Austin and 2 hours south of Dallas with a 13% below national average cost of living
  • Access to a broad referral network with primary care providers and specialists in the region.
  • Visa waiver is considered on case by case basis
  • EPIC and BEACON EMR
  • Support staff consists of Nurse Coordinators, Clerical, Scheduling Staff, and Nurse Navigator.
  • Strong clinical trial network supported by Baylor Scott &White Research Institute

Qualifications:

  • Doctorate Degree in Medicine
  • Licensed to Practice Medicine in the state of Texas by the Texas Medical Board
  • Where Applicable - Employee shall be currently board certified in his or her specialty or demonstrate board of the American Board of Medical Specialties or the Bureau of Osteopathic Specialists
  • Board-Certified or Board Eligible Hematology/Oncology from ACGME accredited program

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong clinical skills in the management of hematologic and oncologic diseases.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • The ideal candidate should be focused on quality, and be able to effectively partner with referring physicians, agencies and other professionals to provide optimum patient care within our award-winning integrated health care system
