Full Job Description

The Financial Manager is responsible for managing accounting and finance operations overseeing financial controls and reporting.



This position reports directly to the CFO and provides supervision to the accounting and finance teams.

Consideration may be given to the opportunity for hybrid work once training has been completed.




Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, IFRS, and other relevant accounting standards.
  • Provide detailed financial analysis and insights to senior management.
  • Support the CFO in preparing reports for the Board of Directors, investors, and other stakeholders.

Accounting Operations

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting activities, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
  • Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
  • Lead and mentor the accounting team, ensuring efficiency and adherence to best practices.
  • Ensure accurate maintenance of accounting records and documentation.

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Develop, manage, and monitor annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
  • Work with department heads to track performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions.
  • Provide financial planning and analysis to support business decision-making.

Internal Controls & Compliance

  • Design and implement robust internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with all tax, audit, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage internal and external audits, ensuring timely completion and addressing any findings.

Cash Flow & Treasury Management

  • Monitor and manage cash flow, ensuring adequate liquidity for operational needs.
  • Oversee bank relationships, loan agreements, and credit lines.
  • Optimize working capital and manage investment strategies where applicable.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of technical accounting and strategic financial management.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and compliance standards (GAAP, IFRS).
  • Ability to provide leadership in areas such as financial planning, budgeting, reporting, and compliance.
  • Proven leadership and team management experience.
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in implementing and optimizing financial systems (such as ERP, accounting software, or financial reporting tools).
  • Ability to identify inefficiencies in current financial systems and processes, and lead initiatives to automate workflows, integrate systems, or implement new software solutions that enhance financial reporting and analysis.
  • Proven experience in analyzing and improving accounting and financial processes to increase operational efficiency.
  • Ability to streamline workflows, eliminate redundancies, and adopt best practices to ensure accuracy, reduce costs, and improve the speed of financial reporting and decision-making.
  • Expertise in building complex financial models to support budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning.
  • Strong ability to use financial data to create scenario analyses and sensitivity models that help senior leadership make informed strategic decisions.
  • Proficiency in using advanced Excel functions, financial modeling tools, or specialized software for in-depth financial analysis.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master's degree or CPA/CMA preferred).
  • At least 7 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance roles, with at least 3 years in a senior accounting or financial controller position.
  • ERP systems experience, SAP preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to fifteen (15) pounds.

Work Environment

  • The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
  • This role may occasionally require presence in the production environment with exposure to cold temperatures and raw meat products. If production floor presence occurs, exposure to cold temperatures and moving mechanical equipment will occur.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet; however, it can be moderate or loud when on the production floor.
  • Employees must wear proper food safe, steel toe shoes, hair net and beard net, nitrile gloves, frock, bump cap, hat, and proper hearing protection while working in certain areas.
