Field Service Technicians are the hands-on experts behind our mission-critical systems. Whether performing inspections, maintenance, or repairs, your work will ensure reliability and performance in the most demanding marine environments.


As a Field Service Technician II, your core responsibilities will include supporting electro-hydraulic equipment used in shipyards and marine facilities, manufactured or supported by Jered. You’ll conduct service and warranty work, perform failure analysis, interpret technical drawings, and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems. You’ll also assist in quoting and technical coordination — setting the stage for continued growth in your career.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Perform on-site service and warranty functions as requested by the customer and authorized by Jered or PAR Marine Services.

  • Perform failure analysis on warranty and service calls, using engineering personnel (as necessary) to determine cause of malfunction and/or the validity of a warranty claim, and coordinate with the customer.

  • Conduct tests of electrical and programmable components, assemblies and systems based on criteria as established by policies and procedures or written test plans; maintains accurate records of test results.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and work instructions and convey requirements of the documents to the craftsmen under supervision when required.

  • Assist with possible engineering issues in various stages of repair or manufacturing.

  • Operate required systems and test equipment in a safe manner, following established safety rules, maintains a neat and clean work area, follows established tool and instrument control procedures, and reports any unsafe acts or conditions to his or her immediate supervisor.

  • Interface with customers to explore potential improvements to be incorporated into new designs or to existing designs.

  • Provide detailed time, trip, and expense reports in a timely manner as required by company procedures.

  • Assist customers with technical issues, as required.

  • Ensure Managers capture all condition reports to include pricing, and job expenses to include materials, travel and time keeping.

  • Ensure that all requirements for service and maintenance are complete before leaving the customer's facility.

  • Advise the customer of any additional items that may require replacement, repair, or special service, provide advice on spare parts procurement.

  • Comply with all federal, state and local, safety rules and regulations as per company procedures and customer requirements.

  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • 2+ years of experience in a shipyard or similar fast-paced environment.

  • Must be able to read, interpret, and mark up blueprints and other technical drawings and material.

  • Must be proficient with computers and computer software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel)

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain security access to military installations, ships, and commercial shipyards and waterfront controlled industrial areas.

  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills and strong troubleshooting abilities. Must be able to generate condition reports on troubleshooting efforts.

  • Ability to function within working conditions of a shipyard.

  • Ability to travel on average 50% domestically and internationally and ability to support evening and weekend hours as needed.

  • Valid Driver's License without restriction.

  • US Person


Preferred Qualifications



  • Technical degree

  • Must have a working knowledge of NAVSEA Standard Items, FAR and government contracting, and be able to work to NAVSEA work specification.
