Full Job Description

This position provides office support for the vice president and coordinates strategic initiatives and community engagement operations. This position may be required to periodically work evenings and weekends, including registration and the annual commencement. 

Essential Duties

  • Provides proactive, high level administrative support for the vice president for strategic initiatives and community engagement, including appropriately responding to telephone calls and correspondence; managing the vice president’s schedule; preparing for, attending and documenting meetings; reconciling the budget; completing purchase requisitions and other forms; monitoring timelines and deliverables for strategic plans and initiatives to ensure alignment with institutional goals; and general clerical work including typing, photocopying and filing
  • Assists with planning, execution, and monitoring of strategic projects and initiatives, including creating project plan documents and timelines and monitoring and tracking progress
  • Prepares high-quality reports, presentations, and other materials for executive leadership, board members, and external stakeholders, summarizing key findings and recommendations
  • Under the direction of the vice president, plans, organizes and executes community engagement events, ensuring successful logistics and maximum impact, and collaborates with departments across campus to ensure effective communication and coordination of community engagement efforts
  • Assists with development and implementation of communication strategies for assigned projects
  • Assists with cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with key community leaders, organizations, non-profits, government agencies and other external partners
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • Associate degree
  • Five years of relevant experience (four additional years of work experience may be substituted for the associate degree)
  • Excellent computer (Microsoft Office, presentation software and database), mathematical, organizational, human relations and verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to exercise discretion while handling confidential matters
  • Bilingual English/Creole preferred

Supplemental Information

This is a full-time standard support staff position with excellent fringe benefits. The starting hourly rate will likely range from $28.00 to approximately 34.33 per hour, depending on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience. Days and hours of work are Mon. - Fri., 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (1 hour lunch). This position may be periodically required to work evenings and weekends, including registration and the annual commencement.
