BSU's institutional values, the work of the President's Special Task Force on Racial Justice, and leadership of the Leading for Change Higher Education Diversity Consortium underscore the campus' commitment to racial equity and other forms of social justice.The EXCEL Program at Bridgewater State University (BSU) is a fully-inclusive postsecondary program for young adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. Students in the EXCEL program share the same experiences as BSU undergraduate students in the areas of academics, socialization, professional development, self-advocacy and independent living. The EXCEL Program offers three options for participation. With supports in place, BSU EXCEL students enroll in courses, take part in internships, socialize with peers and participate in campus clubs and activities.
Position Summary
An Education Coach provides individualized supports to students with disabilities in the BSU EXCEL program. Working 1:1 with EXCEL program students, Education Coaches foster growth toward independence, help develop daily living skills, promote students' self-determination, and track progress using program evaluation tools. EXCEL Education Coaches receive training and ongoing support from program staff.WORK SCHEDULE:
19.75 Hours/Week
This temporary appointment is of a limited duration to meet a special need in the School of College of Education and Health Sciences.
This is a non-benefitted, temporary position with no guarantee of continued employment.

-Attend and support EXCEL student in classes-Attend and support EXCEL student in internships
-Collaborate with student and program staff at weekly check-in meetings
-Assist student in utilizing campus resources
-Provide ongoing academic support, I.e. study skills, scheduling, organization and planning during academic year
-Complete program data collection forms
-Participate in program activities and events
-Attend bi-weekly meetings with supervisor
Required Qualifications
High School DiplomaSensitivity to student needs, concerns, and individual issues, as well as flexibility, patience and high professional integrity
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations of students
Energetic, self-starter who can complete multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Valid driver's license and safe driving record
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality

Preferred Qualifications
College Degree in related fieldRelated field experience working with students with disabilities
Related field experience working as a paraprofessional or educational personnel
Fluency with Microsoft Office 365, various social media, and teleconferencing platforms.
Passing score on one of the two following Formalized Standardized Assessments: ParaPro Assessment (http://www.ets.org/parapro/ ) or WorkKeys Certificate of Proficiency for Teacher Assistants (http://www.act.org/workkeys/profcert/index.html )
