SUMMARY:

This position is within Engine Starters and Engine Starting Systems group. This role will support product engineering, respectively product application, maintenance, product improvement and cost reduction activities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conducts tests on prototypes and finished products to ensure they meet design specifications.
  • Performs dynamometer lab or field tests, collects data, analyzes, and presents the results.
  • Builds products or prototypes for testing and evaluation purposes.
  • Troubleshoots and analyzes product failures to determine the root cause and recommends solutions.
  • Under engineering supervision, investigates and determines technical solutions for product issues related to design, manufacturing, testing and quality.
  • Leads projects managing deadlines, ensuring the projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Prepare technical reports and present findings to stakeholders (internal/external)
  • Works with teams across the company, sales, quality, production, accounting to support the product line.
  • Installs, operates, and maintains engineering equipment and software.
  • Supports customer requests and inquiries when needed.
  • Performs any other related duties as assigned by management.


REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in product engineering or development environment related to heavy-duty equipment or powertrain applications. Basic knowledge of internal combustion engines is desired but not mandatory.
  • Education: Associate's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Technical Expertise: Hands-on experience working in product development, testing, quality, and manufacturing areas.
  • Project Management: Strong ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, ensuring adherence to timelines. Familiarity with process improvement tools and root cause analysis techniques.
  • SolidWorks: Proficiency in SolidWorks
  • Microsoft Office: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for documentation and communication.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to apply technical/engineering knowledge and concepts to solve practical problems.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with team members, vendors, and customers.


TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Occasional travel may be required for customer meetings, vendor visits, or testing activities.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Primarily office work, with occasional physical activity required for testing in the lab or handling product samples.
  • Regular communication via email and phone.
  • Alternating between standing and sitting throughout the day
  • Clarity of vision both near and far (includes use of computers)
  • Seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with the hand(s)
  • Lifting up to 80 lbs may be required
  • Reaching, pushing and pulling, below and overhead
  • The ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds (e.g., machinery alarms, medical codes or alarms)

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Strong judgment and decision-making skills are required to prioritize tasks and ensure project deadlines are met.
