Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman Space Systems is searching for an experienced Principal Engineer \ Engineer for Modeling and Simulation in Guidance Navigation Controls to support the Glide Phase Interceptor Program within the Launch Vehicles business unit in Chandler, Arizona.
The Principal \ GNC Engineer will design, develop, implement, verify, and test Image Processing algorithm models, software, and simulation tools on a team developing and implementing algorithms for advanced seeker, track, and discrimination. The team is responsible for modeling the algorithmic set and the disturbances that will affect algorithm performance, helping verify and validate the models, implementing simulation models for algorithm testing, and working closely with the team creating those algorithms on fight hardware. The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with significantly diverse assignments and collaborative/team settings across all levels.
This position may be offered at the GNC Engineer Level 2 or at the Principal GNC Engineer Level 3.
Responsibilities:

• Design and test image processing models for missile systems
• Work with large high performance computing system to run Monte-Carlo analysis
• Debug and analyze GPU optimizations to run high fidelity scene generator tools
If offered at the GNC Engr Level 2 requires:

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 2 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master's degree in STEM
If offered at the Principal GNC Engr Level 3 requires:

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 5 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master's degree in STEM with 3 years of related engineering experience, or a PhD with 1 year of experience.
Basic Qualifications:

• Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope
• Proficiency in C++ development in a Linux environment
• Proficiency in MATLAB and Python toolchains
• Travel 10% of the time
Preferred Qualifications:

• High proficiency in C++ development in a Linux environment
• High proficiency in MATLAB and Python toolchains

• Bachelor's Degree: Optical, Physics, Electrical, or Software preferred
• Ability and desire to work with Image Processing techniques
• Ability and desire to work with optical effects modeling and scene generation
• Experience with high performance computing (HPCs)
• Experience working on real-time hypersonic missile interceptor systems
• Experience with missile systems and associated standards
• Experience with high fidelity 6DoF simulation for guided missiles
• Previous experience with DOD missile defense programs
• Experience with relevant seeker algorithms including radiometric processing, search/object localization, and/or sensor control
• Proficient with Linux and automation tools and techniques
• Experience using MSLRAD scene generator
• Experience working with missile guidance and autopilot algorithms
Salary Range: $77,200.00 - $115,800.00Salary Range 2: $0.00 - $0.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
