Editor/Reporter
The Free Lance-Star in Fredericksburg, Va., is seeking an editor/reporter to work on the news desk. As an editor, this person will edit news and features content, prepare page plans, write headlines, proof pages and work with company page designers. This editor also will field community news submissions and manage various event calendars.
As a reporter, local business news, openings and closings will be the primary area of focus. There will be the occasional general assignment.
The base shift for this position is Sundays through Thursdays, 1 to 9:30 p.m.
The successful candidate will be well-versed in AP style, understand media law, understand online media readership and be confident in maximizing SEO.
At least two years of daily news experience is required.
