Description

The Executive Director, US Retail Business will lead the US Retail team. They will contribute to the business strategies for all brands/customers within the US Pet Retail business and will have responsibility of leading the operational success of the business, measured in top line sales and profit.  

This position will focus on the development the vision for long term sustainable growth by continuously raising the capability of the team. 
 
This position will present category strategies to leadership to support corporate strategy development and resource allocation decisions while building a collaborative relationship with relevant functions within BI. 

This role will leverage current assets and obtain new ones in order to position BI AH as a leader in the US Pet Retail (OTC & Rx Pharmacy)arena. 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for establishing a vision, strategy and leadership for the business unit; develop and communicate the US strategy, prepare investment plans, and obtain resource approvals.
  • Profit and loss business unit responsibility leveraging resources aligned with goals. 
  • Lead the strategy and negotiation for key contracts needed to expand Retail business. Lead the development of the future portfolio and secure appropriate prioritization within Global Innovation and Business Development.
  • Set up an organization and platforms/processes that establishes clear responsibilities and fosters teamwork and employee motivation.
  • Set up systems to ensure action plans, KPIs, and reporting systems are in place to monitor project progress towards strategy achievement.
  • Develop and implement category and brand strategies, leverage digital technologies.
  • Develop new business models and services.
  • Develop customer/consumer insights and knowledge.
  • Foster innovation in order to expand the product portfolio and life cycle management.
  • Explore growth and investment opportunities related to the franchise in order to grow market share and enable BI AH to become a leader in the market or to reinforce its leadership.
  • Responsible for all internal and external marketing/ communication activities regarding the Business Unit.
  • Support US commercial business operations and excellence initiatives.
  • Focus on growing and investing further in the retail channel by defining targeting a product portfolio with offerings with aligned risk profiles and business objectives.

    Requirements

    • A minimum of 14 years business experience in animal health, retail or in consumer health care related business of which 8+ years experience leading and developing diverse teams & leaders, projects, and group/business functions, managing people and teams is required.
    • 5+ years of US retail market and omnichannel experience preferred
    • MBA preferred
    • Ability to travel domestically and internationally 
    • Financial acumen (P&L understanding / management)
    • Proven innovation & entrepreneurial mindset
    • Ability to identify and monitor key financial indicators to gauge performance, identify trends, and suggest strategies that impact results
    • Ability to work in a global matrix environment
    • Strategic and business management skills, advanced negotiation skills
    • Business execution skills: process management, performance management
    • Charismatic leader, with a people development focused track record
    • Change management skills
    • Excellent relational and communication skills, comfortable with public speaking
    • A thorough understanding of the marketing process, including market research, strategic planning, product and brand development, advertising, trend and consumer promotions
    • Experience preferred in categories and regulatory environment related to health care
    • Ability to work successfully within a matrix organization
    • Strong business acumen and influential skills

    Eligibility Requirements

    • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
    • Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)
    • Must be 18 years of age or older
