Position Summary
The Docketing Specialist is primarily responsible for providing Administrative Assistance and docket support for attorneys practicing in multiple courts and jurisdictions within the Litigation Practice for the Firm. Position will review legal documents in order to calculate, record and disseminate timely response dates pursuant to court rules and civil procedure. In addition, the Docketing Specialist will be responsible for docketing and have complete knowledge of State and Federal court rules and court procedures and provide timely reports of response dates on a regular basis. This position requires the ability to work independently and interface directly with Attorneys of all levels as well as Courthouse Personnel.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Index and enter all docketable items into Firm's electronic docket system(s), including calendaring deadlines dates submitted by attorneys and other legal support services such as NYSCEF and Court Watch.
- Prepare and distribute daily and weekly Calendar reports to Litigation Attorneys and those working on calendared matters
- Prepare and distribute specialized docket receipts for all request
- File, maintain and track docket receipt and report files relevant to all case information entered into the automated docket system
- Maintain and update all additions and changes in the electronic docket system, including case name, venue or court jurisdiction, case number, assigned Judges and/or responsible attorneys
- Respond to written or verbal requests from attorneys, paraprofessionals and executive assistants regarding calendared events, pleadings, and court procedures and modifications to due dates and deadlines on the docket and calendar
- Generate trial timelines, as requested
- Assist the Departmental Supervisor/Manager in researching and keeping up to date on court procedural rules in the various jurisdictions in which the Firm practices and provide guidance to attorneys and litigation support staff regarding applicable filing procedures (e.g. for commencement of actions, motions, orders to show cause, applications for TROs, judgments, etc) pending in State and Federal Courts.
- Activity assist and support the litigation department in daily operations and functions. Assume additional duties and/or responsibilities, as requested.

Requirements
Education: . College level training or paralegal certificate preferred.
Experience: Minimum of two years experience as a general litigation calendar or docket clerk or as a paralegal, legal assistant or case manager role with docket responsibilities for a particular case. Experience in Managing Clerks office a plus. Substantial experience computing calendar deadline for State, Federal and Appellate Courts.
Skills: Knowledge of Milana (or similar docketing software), Pacer, Courtlink, Lexis-Nexis, Westlaw. Possess and maintain knowledge of court rules and procedures, and demonstrated ability to apply the rules to accurately calculate deadlines. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work with individuals at all organizational levels. Possess a customer focus and have a track record of providing the highest level of customer service. Must be detail oriented. Able to organize and prioritize issues and handle competing priorities. Ability to take initiative in handling projects and anticipating what needs to be done. Able to solve problems quickly, effectively, and diplomatically. Flexibility and ability to adapt to constantly changing priorities.

Working Conditions: Works remotely. Occasionally called upon to work hours in excess of your normal daily schedule. Potential for in-office work requests as needed, so proximity to the office is important.
Pay Ranges:
This represents the presently-anticipated low and high end of Reed Smith's pay range for this position. Actual pay may vary based on various factors, including but not limited to location and experience.
