Job Description: IT Support Technician
Location: 6910 Carroll Canyon Rd, San Diego, CA 92121
Pay Rate: $23/hr.
Position Type: Long-term, multi-year contract
Training: First week of training in Long Beach (hotel and rental car booked by Apex or mileage reimbursed)
Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced IT Support Technician to provide restoration services to PCs and in-scope peripheral devices. The technician will troubleshoot, upgrade, install, and support hardware and software at the desktop level. This role requires a proactive approach to troubleshooting and project-related activities, including refresh, migration, and upgrading of software or entire operating systems. The technician will be the sole tech at a small site and will occasionally cover a naval base 40 miles away (mileage expenses covered).
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide restoration services to PCs and in-scope peripheral devices.
- Troubleshoot, upgrade, install, and support hardware and software at the desktop level.
- Perform maintenance of hardware and parts replacement.
- Conduct Install, Move, Redeploy, and Dispose activities in coordination with established policies and guidelines.
- Execute desktop and laptop refreshes.
- Perform PC imaging.
- Engage in proactive troubleshooting.
- Participate in project-related activities, including support for refresh, migration, and upgrading of software or entire operating systems.
- Coordinate with clients and end users on expectations and availability to conduct Managed Client Services.
- Provide Go Live support.
- Conduct assessments.
- Assist in the coordination of refresh activities as directed.
- Maintain inventory of devices and/or peripherals.
- Provide in-scope hardware/software/peripheral break/fix services in designated customer IT Service Centers (ITSC).
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in IT hardware support.
- Ability to work 100% onsite with no restrictions that would prevent completion of physical requirements (lifting up to 35 pounds and standing/being on feet for almost the entire day).
- Must possess one of the following documents for “U.S. Person” verification:
- United States Passport or Passport Card
- Original or certified copy of U.S. birth certificate issued by a State, county, municipal authority, or territory of the U.S. bearing an official seal (Puerto Rican birth certificate issued on/after July 1, 2010)
- Certificate of U.S. Citizenship (Form N-560 or N-561)
- Certificate of U.S. Naturalization (Form N-550 or N-570)
- U.S. Permanent Resident Card (Form I-551) - Non-U.S. Passport with unexpired temporary I-551 Stamp
- Certification of Birth Abroad (Form FS-545), Certification of Report of Birth (Form DS-1350), or Consular Report of Birth Abroad (Form FS-240) issued by the U.S. Department of State
- Form I-94/Form I-94A or other U.S. Government issued document indicating refugee or asylee status.
