We are seeking an experienced and visionary Database Administration Manager to lead our team of talented Oracle and SQL Server DBAs. This is a pivotal role that will drive the transition of our database environment to a modern, cutting-edge platform. This role will also help drive transformative efforts towards cloud-based platforms such as Snowflake and Postgres.
As the Database Administrator Manager, you will lead the formulation and implementation of database management strategies, with a focus on transitioning to modern data platforms. You will ensure optimal performance and tuning of SQL databases, utilizing in-depth knowledge of Oracle, MS SQL Server, DB2, and similar databases.
You will be responsible for analyzing and resolving a variety of complex technical issues, providing innovative solutions, and exercising sound judgment in decision-making. Additionally, you will effectively communicate technical solutions to both technical and non-technical teams, ensuring clarity and comprehension across the organization.
We require extensive knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL), including performance tuning and optimization, as well as in-depth expertise in Oracle, MS SQL Server, Snowflake, DB2, and similar database systems. Strong analytical skills with the capability to recognize, analyze, and resolve a variety of problems are crucial, along with the proven ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
Exceptional communication skills are necessary to explain technical solutions to both technical and non-technical teams. Experience in contributing to and executing strategic initiatives for a team, as well as a demonstrated ability to inspire confidence, encourage appropriate risk-taking, and achieve high standards, are also required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Lead and manage a team of database administrators on database technologies such as Oracle, SQL Server, and DB2, ensuring high performance and availability of database systems.
- Oversee the design, installation, and maintenance of database systems to support business objectives and improve efficiency.
- Ensure robust backup, recovery, and disaster recovery plans are in place and regularly tested.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand their data needs and provide solutions that drive business growth and innovation.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and best practices in database management and incorporate them into the team's processes.
- Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts to optimize costs and services.
- Manage team cost center and ensure software and services spend are planned and remain within yearly budget targets.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
This position manages people.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Level: Bachelor's degree in information technology, Engineering, or Computer Science OR in lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience.
Licenses/Certifications:
- Data Management\Certified Database Administrator.
Experience: Five years experience within a database maintenance function or related professional experience. One-year supervisory experience or demonstrated progressive leadership experience. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues. Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Preferred Qualification:
- Experience in transitioning database systems to modern platforms.
- Knowledge of cloud-based database solutions is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):
- Knowledge of structured query language (SQL), including performance and tuning.
- In-depth knowledge of Oracle, MS SQL Server, DB2, and similar databases.

Salary Range: $127,840 - $237,303
