At the Department of Public Utilities, customer service is more than answering questions-it's helping residents and businesses access essential services that support their daily lives. In this role, you will assist customers with utility account inquiries, process account transactions, evaluate account concerns, and help identify appropriate resolutions. What You'll DoAs a Customer Service Clerk II, you will:
- Assist customers in person and by phone with utility account inquiries and service requests.
- Evaluate customer concerns and assist with determining appropriate account resolutions.
- Process utility account transactions, payments, service orders, and account updates accurately and efficiently.
- Research meter readings, water consumption, billing activity, and account information to answer customer inquiries.
- Prepare, maintain, and update customer records, reports, and related documentation.
- Process incoming correspondence and maintain accurate account records within the utility billing system.
- Access and review available information sources to provide timely and accurate customer assistance.
- Balance account information, process payments, and perform related clerical and customer service duties.
- Collaborate with team members and other City departments to provide excellent customer service.

- Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to evaluate information and assist customers in resolving account concerns.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling financial transactions and account records.
- The ability to prioritize work and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working with computerized systems and standard office software.
- Experience in customer service, utility billing, bookkeeping, cash handling, or administrative support is preferred.
