CRISIS ADVOCATE FLSA Status: Part-Time, Non-Exempt
Work Hours: 16 Hours per week
Position Summary: The Crisis Advocate responds to victims of domestic
violence and sexual abuse, assault, and harassment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Answer hotline calls and conduct intakes with walk-ins.
* Provides accompaniment at the Children's Advocacy Center as
needed.
* Conducts shelter intakes.
* Screens for individual needs, conducting safety assessments and
safety planning.
* Provides support services, non-directive counseling and information
and referrals to victims of domestic/sexual violence and their families.
* Maintains accurate confidential participant records and documents all
client services in a timely manner.
* Maintains strict confidentiality with all materials associated with the
agency's clients and files.
* Participates in case management with Direct Services Supervisor.
* Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
* Provide after-hours hotline coverage and in-person advocacy
accompaniment to hospitals and police agencies as necessary.
(On Call rotation)
* Participates in the required annual training of 20 hours.
(10 hours PCAR, 10 hours PCADV)
* Other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications:
* An Associates Degree in the field of human services or a high school
diploma with experience in crisis response.
* Ability to remain calm in a crisis situation.
* Must have good-listening skills.
* Must possess strong organizational, interpersonal and
communication skills.
* Must have the ability to work with a diverse group of people while
maintaining a non-judgmental attitude.
* Knowledge of community resources.
* Demonstrated concern for domestic violence and sexual assault
victims.
* Must have a valid drivers license, clean driving record and
transportation.
* This position does require travel to occasionally provide coverage in
the Forest County satellite office.
* Must be able to obtain Act 33, Act 34, and FBI Clearance.
* Successfully complete required dual counselor/advocate training.
