Full Job Description
Public Works Operations is seeking a Crew Supervisor to oversee and perform installation, maintenance, repair, and new construction of City structures.
Responsibilities:
Requires the ability to perform manual labor and work outdoors in all weather, possess licenses to operate light to heavy motor equipment and related attachments, to read grades from cut sheets and stations, and to lay out work zones (including coordination with Miss Utility). Requires knowledge of concrete and asphalt construction procedures and the ability to plan jobs and match with resources. Ability to maintain work orders, logs, forms, records, material expenditures, equipment status, and other work related information and to perform data entry to capture such information. Experience in Kronos and Maximo desirable. Ability to regrade lead ditches and roadside. Ability to repair cave ins and install concrete pipe. Have some concrete and asphalt experience.
This candidate will oversee the daily functions and operations of the concrete and asphalt trucks. Must have experience with setting up concrete jobs to be poured throughout the City, ability to train personnel how to operate the concrete truck, knowledge on how to calculate concrete and what the slump is and means. Should have some knowledge of how to operate a concrete silo for loading cement into the concrete truck. Candidate needs need to have asphalt experience which includes the operation of asphalt trucks and making potholes and asphalt patch repairs using a milling machine. Candidate should know how to calculate asphalt and the different types of asphalt and when they should be used. Candidate should be able to plan a large-scale shoulder regrade operation from all the equipment needed to how the work zone is set up.

- Operate, plan, and supervise workers or inmates in the execution of maintenance, repair, and construction activities for asphalt and concrete (potholes, road repair, cave-ins, ditch maintenance, vegetation control, debris removal, etc.). Perform manual labor. Operate heavy equipment.
- Act as after-hours duty officer on a rotational basis.
- Perform supervisory functions such as training, work order data entry, timecard management and approval, recommending selection of staff, evaluation of work, counseling and disciplining staff.
- Operate, plan, and lead workers during inclement weather in the execution of snow removal, ice control, flood control and response, and hurricane response.
