As a Controls Technician, you will:
Electrical Systems Responsibilities:
- Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on industrial power distribution systems, including:
- Interpret and work from electrical blueprints, wiring diagrams, and building specifications.
- Ensure compliance with National Electrical Code (NEC), safety standards, and facility requirements.
- Conduct acceptance testing, load checks, and circuit diagnostics.
- Support installation, commissioning, and modifications of large industrial electrical systems.
- Use and maintain electrical test instruments for diagnostics and inspections.
- Maintain, repair, and replace components in motors, pumps, lighting, and control systems.
- Install, maintain, and calibrate electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical instruments used for measuring and controlling flow, pressure, temperature, level, and other process variables.
- Conduct functional and calibration tests on transmitters, controllers, analyzers, and final control elements (e.g., valves, dampers, actuators).
- Perform periodic inspections and routine maintenance of control systems to ensure plant reliability.
- Support the operation and tuning of automated and computerized control systems, including SCADA or DCS platforms.
- Assist in the design and implementation of analog and digital control modifications.
- Maintain and troubleshoot hazardous gas detectors, fire detection systems, and fault detection alarms.
- Update or create maintenance procedures and records related to instrumentation.
- Respond to Facility Work Orders from building occupants and operations personnel.
- Perform acceptance testing and system verifications on new equipment prior to commissioning.
- Inspect equipment and installations for conformance to specifications and code requirements.
- Collaborate with operations, engineering, and safety teams to resolve issues and recommend improvements.
- Maintain detailed records including maintenance logs, inspection reports, and as-built updates.
- Order materials, tools, and replacement parts; manage inventory and repair parts usage.
- Ensure full compliance with all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security (EHSS) regulations.
- Participate in team-based audits, safety checks, and emergency response efforts.
The ideal candidate will have:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in either industrial electrical or controls/instrumentation systems.
- Strong understanding of electrical and/or control system theory, design, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret:
- Blueprints and wiring diagrams.
- P&IDs (piping and instrumentation diagrams).
- Technical manuals and specification documents.
- Proficient in the use of test equipment such as multimeters, meggers, loop calibrators, and signal generators.
- Basic computer literacy including familiarity with CMMS systems, technical documentation, and electronic reporting tools.
- Physical ability to work in confined spaces, elevated platforms, and indoor/outdoor environments as needed.
