Job Title: Technical Writer (Contractor)
Position Type: Contractor
Location: Vienna, VA
Apex Systems is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Technical Writer to join our Process Improvement & Planning team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in documentation and writing, coupled with a deep understanding of technology and processes. This role involves creating clear, concise, and comprehensive documentation to support products, services, and internal processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Documentation Development:
- Create, revise, and maintain technical documentation, including user manuals, process guides, technical and business documentation, and procedures.
- Develop and standardize templates and documentation processes to ensure consistency and quality across all materials.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including leads, engineers, product managers, and developers, to gather information and ensure accurate and complete documentation.
- Participate in meetings and product development discussions to stay informed on new features, changes, and updates.
- Research & Analysis:
- Research, analyze, and interpret technical information to produce user-friendly documentation.
- Continuously update documentation based on new product releases, updates, and user feedback.
- Content Management:
- Organize and manage documentation repositories to ensure documents are easily accessible and up to date.
- Implement and manage version control for documentation to track changes and updates.
- Quality Assurance:
- Review documentation for accuracy, presentation, completeness, and adherence to standards.
- Test and validate documentation content against actual products and processes to ensure usability.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience: Proven experience as a Technical Writer, preferably in the technology sector, with a strong understanding of technical concepts, software development, and engineering processes.
- Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in documentation tools such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, SharePoint, and other content management systems.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to explain complex technical information in a clear and concise manner.
- Additional Requirements:
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to documentation challenges.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Experience with Agile development methodologies.
- Knowledge of technology and software development tools.
- Certification in Technical Writing and/or content management.
