Summary of Position: 

The Mildred C. Hailey Site Director reports to the Executive Director of Teen Strategy and is responsible for implementing objectives, standards, policies, and procedures that ensure high-quality programs for Club members. In alignment with Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston’s strategic direction, this role focuses on delivering programs that promote academic success, workforce readiness, and the health and wellness of members and their families. 

The Site Director oversees one part-time staff member and manages a Club that currently serves approximately 20-30 members daily, with a goal to increase attendance. Additionally, the Director is responsible for maintaining partnerships with Boston Housing Authority (BHA) and Boston Children’s Hospital on-site staff to support collaboration and program success. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Coordinate linkages, relationships and integration of the housing development and Mildred C. Hailey partners, in support of quality opportunities that enhance member’s educational, health, social, cultural and recreational development. 
  • Manage member recruitment, registration, attendance and data tracking on MyClubHub. Maintain membership and Average Daily Attendance targets / goals for both pre-teens and teens.  
  • Maintain outcomes measurement and data collection systems including logic models, surveys, evaluations, reports, etc. 
  • Maintain ongoing communication with parents including membership fee collection, permission slips, program and community  and newsletters.   
  •  oversee the implementation of the National Youth Outcomes Initiative (NYOI), the Holistic Student Assessment (HSA), the Life After the Club (LATC) teen survey, and the Pre-teen survey.  
  • Work in partnership with identified BHA & Boston Children’s Hospital staff to maintain facility expectations of shared / dedicated space in good order, reasonable wear and tear accepted.  
  • Oversee the implementation of PEAR Inc.’s Social Emotional Learning (SEL) framework at the site. Lead weekly membership meetings with staff to support the delivery of SEL programming. Including ensuring Clover Group programming is consistently integrated into the site’s schedule to promote members' social and emotional development. 
  • Oversee the operation (and management) of the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) at respective Club. Responsibilities include menu development, ordering, kitchen maintenance, food preparation, meal service, and daily and monthly recordkeeping.  
  •  Ensure Workforce Development programming is a key focus at the site by actively participating in weekly Ready to Work University and Ready to Work Academy sessions. Oversee the allocation and management of SuccessLink jobs and Teen Associate positions to support member engagement and development.   Facilitate and charter BGCA Leadership programming Keystone and Torch Club.  
  • Direct supervision of all program staff, program partners, volunteers and teen associates including weekly staff meetings. 
  • Develop a daily schedule of activities and programs that engage member’s participation and enhance student academic, workforce, social, emotional, health, cultural, and recreational development. 
  •  consistent delivery of high-yield and quality programming; provide technical assistance and guidance to additional out-of-school-time partners. 
  •  Foster and sustain a trauma-informed environment by implementing practices that support emotional safety and well-being. Ensure all staff receive trauma-informed training as part of their onboarding process.Develop a Family Engagement Plan for the families of Club Members.  
  • Work in partnership with BGCB’s Free-standing Club staff on use of facilities and joint programming.     
  • Oversee the development and operation of school vacation and summer programming.  
  • Attend individual supervision sessions and a  Sitea Site-leadership bi-monthly meetings.  
  • Attend all on-site and off-site meetings as required.  
  • Works closely with the Executive Director of Teen Strategy to implement, follow and manage budget, expenses and program resources.   
  • Represent/ Lead the Club, BGCB on internal and external committees/teams.  
  • Other duties as deemed appropriate by the Executive Director of Teen Strategy.

Position Requirements (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Work Demands)

  • BS/BA preferred; equivalent experience considered 
  • Minimum three year's experience providing youth development programs 
  • Prior supervisory experience 
  • Strong management skills 
  • Excellent organizational skills 
  • Experience working with school-aged children 
  • Knowledge of community and neighborhood resources 
  • MS Office and web competency preferred 
  • Ability to work with children, youth and families from a variety of backgrounds 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
