Responsibilities*

The University of Michigan School of Nursing (UMSN) invites applications for full-time, 12-month clinical track faculty positions, beginning in the 2026-2027 academic year. We seek accomplished clinical scholars with a strong background in nursing practice, demonstrated expertise in advanced practice roles, and a proven record of teaching and scholarship.

Faculty will be responsible for didactic and/or clinical instruction in the following undergraduate specialty areas:

  • Behavioral Health Nursing
  • Medical-Surgical Nursing
  • Obstetrics Nursing
  • Pediatric Nursing
  • Community/Population Health Nursing

All undergraduate courses are delivered in person. Successful candidates will demonstrate a commitment to excellence in clinical education, healthcare delivery, and student mentorshp. Preferences will be given to applicants with active clinical engagement and a passion for integrating practice, teaching and scholarshp.

The search will take place during the 2025-2026 academic year. Application review will begin in September 2025 and continue through December 2025.

Required Qualifications*

  • Doctorate in Nursing.
  • A nursing license in the State of Michigan is required for this position (current licensure or willingness to obtain licensure).
  • A specialty certification in the State of Michigan is required for these positions (Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse (PMHN) or Advanced Practice Nursing (APRN) for behavior health nursing; Primary Care Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP) for pediatrics.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication, networking and relationship building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to participate in the development and implementation of innovative curricular activities.
  • Demonstrated clinical teaching ability and practice excellence in a defined relevant area of clinical expertise.
  • Current clinical experience in a practice relevant role.
  • Evidence of increasing service to the profession and academic community.
  • Collaborates with faculty regarding visionary educational programs.
  • A record of scholarly attainment in the area of advanced practice nursing including publications, evidence-based practice guidelines and other forms of scholarship.
  • Prior to the start date must be in compliance with all health requirements including standard precautions such as Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, orientations, licenses/certifications, policies, and procedures both internal and external to the University for your assigned classroom(s) and/or clinical sites(s).
