Our large retail client based in Tyler, TX is looking for a FULL-TIME Buyer focused on footwear to join their growing team.
This role is 100% ONSITE with relocation assistance as needed. Some light travel is expected with this role.
As a key leader, the Buyer is responsible for achieving sales, gross margin, and profit goals through merchandise selection, pricing, and promotion. The Buyer is a product and merchandise-focused role that utilizes appropriate merchandising and management techniques to maximize the company's return on inventory investment. This role requires a high degree of team management, product expertise, attention to detail, quantitative analysis, and vendor relationship management.

Buyer Responsibilities:
-Achieve sales, gross margin, and profit goals through merchandise selection, pricing, and promotion.
-Utilize merchandising techniques to maximize return on inventory investment.
-Lead and manage Merchandising Department Associates.
-Develop strategic buying plans aligned with financial expectations.
-Partner with Planning to optimize sales, margin, and inventory turnover.
-Ensure customer satisfaction through brand integrity and understanding core customer needs.
-Maximize web sales and collaborate with Marketing for product advertising.
-Assess competition and react to market trends. -Step into leadership roles and project leads as needed.
-Collaborate with Planning, Replenishment, and Allocation teams for inventory control.
Buyer Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Retail Merchandising, Business, or related field or equivalent work experience
- 3+ years of progressive experience as a merchant in a specialty retail environment or merchandising experience, preferably in footwear
- A proven track record of developing and building a successful apparel business
- Functional expertise in all areas of Buying, Merchandising, Planning, Allocation and Inventory Control
- Hands-on experience developing, preparing, and implementing tactical plans in support of strategic company goals
- Experience in developing and curating a private label plan is a plus
- Ability to be onsite in Tyler, TX, 5 days a week
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
- Microsoft Word, Excel and overall Microsoft Suite
