Biomedical Equipment Support Specialist
Full Job Description

Summary

This position serves in support services to the Biomedical Engineer Program for the Clinton Service Unit (CSU) comprised of the Clinton Indian Health Center, El Reno Indian Health Center, and Watonga Indian Health Center. The incumbent will be under the direct supervision of the service unit Supervisory Biomedical Equipment Support Specialist.

Duties

  • Provide technician support duties to install and repair biomedical, laboratory and dental equipment.
  • Read instructions, interpret diagram specifications to specialty equipment, follow manufacturer's specifications, and applicable policy standards.
  • Implement equipment safety inspections, calibration, authorized modification, diagnostic testing, routine equipment maintenance.
  • Communicate with staff, patients, and division managers with regard to solutions, equipment design, operational programs, and best practice associate with equipment use.

This is a designated position covered by Public Law 101-630, requiring contact or control over Indian children. Due to this requirement, the agency must ensure that persons hired for these positions have not been found guilty of or pleaded nolo contendere or guilty to certain crimes.

Measles and Rubella immunization required for selectees born after 1957 and seasonal influenza immunization is required for all staff working in Indian Health Service health care facilities.

Subject to travel 25% of the time to El Reno Indian Health Center and Watonga Indian Health Center for clinic equipment maintenance.

Background Investigation: If you are selected for this vacancy, you must undergo a pre-employment fingerprint check and background investigation. Fingerprint results and background investigation documentation must be cleared prior to hire. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
GS-05: Three (3) years general experience,1 year of which is equivalent to at the GS-4 with the particular knowledge, skill, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position of the biomedical equipment support specialist.
OR
Four 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree.

GS-07: One (1) year specialized experience with the particular knowledge, skill, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. This specialized experience is related to the work of the position and equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level. Examples Include: measure, assemble, place specialized medical equipment, use of digital testing equipment to perform diagnostics, calibrate, and the replacement of specialty parts, electronic components, and mechanical hardware features; document maintenance actions to digital software.
OR
One (1) full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement.

GS-09: One (1) year specialized experience with the particular knowledge, skill, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. This specialized experience is related to the work of the position and equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level. Examples Include: repair technical support equipment systems, perform circuit analysis, isolate malfunctions, follow schematics, flow charts, perform authorized modifications, section to equipment, preventative maintenance, periodic lubrication, adjustments, replacement of filters, safety inspection; use equipment publications, standards, warranty process for implementation of effective administration functions.
OR
Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher graduate education leading to such as degree.
