Full Job Description

Miraval Austin Resort and Spa

At Miraval, we believe that meaningful experiences begin with presence, intention, and genuine care. Our colleagues are more than service professionals—they are guides, creators, and collaborators who support our guests on their personal wellbeing journeys.

The Associate Director of Sales & Events plays a vital dual role in shaping transformative group experiences while driving strategic sales efforts for the resort. This position is responsible for leading a team of Event Managers and/or Coordinators, managing select key accounts, and supporting the Director of Sales in achieving both revenue and experiential goals. This hybrid leadership role is ideal for a candidate who brings strength in event execution, sales strategy, and team development, with a growth path toward a future Director-level position.

Key Responsibilities:

Sales Leadership & Strategy

  • Support the Director of Sales in developing and executing the resort’s group and event sales strategies.
  • Manage and grow select key accounts while mentoring the broader sales and events team in cultivating new business.
  • Lead weekly sales meetings, contribute to the annual business plan and forecasting processes, and collaborate on owner updates and performance reporting.
  • Represent Miraval Austin at relevant industry trade shows, networking events, and client entertainment opportunities to build brand awareness and business relationships.
  • Analyze market trends, customer feedback, and performance metrics to drive sales opportunities that align with Miraval’s values and offerings.

Event Planning & Execution

  • Oversee the planning and execution of group business, including wellness retreats, resort buyouts, corporate gatherings, and intentional celebrations.
  • Maintain an active presence throughout the group experience—from initial inquiry through post-event reflection—ensuring each detail is crafted with care and precision.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Culinary, Spa, Wellness, and Guest Services to deliver cohesive and impactful programming.
  • Carry and achieve event-related revenue goals while maintaining the integrity of the Miraval brand.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Provide mindful leadership and mentorship to the Sales and Events team, fostering professional growth and alignment with Miraval's mission and culture.
  • Support administrative and supervisory functions including recruiting, training, and performance development within both the Sales and Events teams.
  • Serve as a grounding force within the department, upholding our standards of excellence while encouraging creativity, compassion, and mindfulness in every interaction.
  • Act as the lead in the absence of the Director of Sales, ensuring continuity and effective communication across all internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • A genuine desire to create extraordinary, purposeful experiences for guests and colleagues alike.
  • A minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in hospitality sales, event leadership, or event planning.
  • Proven leadership experience in a sales environment, including staff mentoring, systems management, and strategic business development.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a refined, intuitive approach to guest and team interaction.
  • Proficiency in hospitality systems (Delphi, Opera, Envision, etc.) and general computer knowledge.
  • CMP or equivalent certification preferred; familiarity with Together by Hyatt, Hyatt Sales Training, or MEET is a plus.
  • Flexibility and openness to relocation for future growth within the Miraval and Hyatt portfolios.

All qualified candidates will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability or protected veteran status.
