Assistant Vice President of Child and Family Services

We are seeking an Assistant Vice President for our Child and Family Services Division!

Riverside’s Child and Family Services provide mental healthcare, early childhood programs, and family support services – and we are dedicated to helping families succeed. We offer a range of programs that serve children and families at all levels of development – including before birth. Our goal is to keep the family at the center of care and focused on their child.

In this vital role, the Assistant Vice President of Child and Family Services is responsible for overseeing, planning, administering, and supervising division operations. They ensure the delivery of high-quality, strength-based, and family- and community-focused services that are fiscally viable and adaptable to the diverse needs of those served. This role also requires a strong commitment to culture and belonging across all areas of work.

The AVP will:

  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality, family-centered services that reflect a deep commitment to excellence, and are responsive to the unique cultural, social, and economic needs of all individuals and communities.
  • Demonstrate adaptability by fostering a culture that embraces change, continuously improving the quality of care, and ensuring programs are flexible to meet evolving community needs.
  • Lead strategic planning for the Division, ensuring alignment with both short-term and long-term organizational goals, while maintaining a focus on the effectiveness of services across all levels.
  • Promote organizational effectiveness by ensuring that all services meet regulatory requirements, and by providing appropriate staff support to enhance team performance, retention, and satisfaction.
  • Oversee the effective and efficient implementation of programs that align with the mission of Riverside and are fiscally viable, ensuring sustainability and continued impact.
  • Provide back-up oversight of the entire Division in the absence of the Vice President for Child and Family Services, stepping into leadership roles when necessary to ensure smooth operations.
  • Lead by example and through policy to foster a culture of mutual support, respect, active community partnership, personal responsibility, empowerment, and continuous improvement in staff skills and Child and Family Services programs.
  • Provide leadership and oversight to ensure that the human rights of youth and families across the division are upheld, clearly communicated, and integrated into service delivery, fostering a person-centered, client-driven approach grounded in social consciousness  and sustainability.
  • Oversee and support program leadership responsible for ensuring the effective delivery of high-quality, person-centered services, providing guidance, accountability, and strategic direction to maintain excellence and alignment with organizational goals.

Required Skills

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Basic computer fluency, including Microsoft Office
  • Valid driver’s license and regular access to a reliable vehicle

Required Experience

  • Minimum of a Master's Degree in a clinical behavioral health discipline
  • Massachusetts licensure at an independent level of practice (LICSW/LMHC/LMFT)
  • Minimum 7 years' experience in healthcare/human services with at least 5 years supervisory and management experience 
  • Experience/ knowledge of budget development, fiscal and operational oversight, operating in a 3rd party billing and managed care contracted environment
