Under the supervision of the Assistant Academic Dean, this position will coordinate internships and other experiential learning opportunities to serve all majors; advise program participants on internships; Identify and develop internship and other experiential learning opportunities with prospective Internship host sites; conducts site visits; acts as a liaison between the College and site supervisors; oversees and facilitates assessment of internship sites; manages student evaluations; supports and assists with other initiatives around undergraduate education at Emerson Los Angeles (ELA) including Co-curricular events and other programming.ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
Advise students regarding internships the semester prior to a student’s arrival in Los Angeles (via e-mail, telephone, and/or in-person meetings on the Los Angeles campus and/or through orientation sessions held on the main Boston campus).
Track students’ internship search progress, providing ongoing guidance on the most promising opportunities, working with students on preparing resumes and cover letters, interview feedback, and weighing offers.
Monitor student performances at internship sites and mediate any issues and/or challenges that may arise between students and the site.
Assist with researching and developing new internship site opportunities and directly manage the content of the internship database containing all Los Angeles-based internship sites.
Distribute information on internship opportunities to students via e-mail, telephone, and/or in-person meetings and through regular updates on new and existing internship opportunities.
Serve as liaison and communicate information about the college’s Los Angeles campus internship policies, guidelines, etc. to site supervisors.
In collaboration with other team members, conduct site visits to cultivate relationships with site supervisors to better understand the role of the student intern at their companies.
Assist with distribution, collection, and follow-up of midterm and final internship evaluations to students.
Manage the “learning agreement” contract between students, internship site supervisors, and the college.
Support the internship program and all aspects of the operation of the department as needed, as well as answer questions regarding the Los Angeles campus internship program via phone or e-mail.
With other team members, prepare and conduct periodic workshops to help students with their internship search, focused on topics such as resume building, interview preparation, script coverage, and others; assist in planning and execution of campus-wide, career-focused events, including the Career Advisory Network (CAN).
Collaborate with the Office of International Student Affairs on all matters concerning international students in internships in Los Angeles, including timely processing of Curricular Practical Training (CPT) authorization.
QUALIFICATIONS – Qualifications are deemed required or preferred and represent what is needed to effectively perform a job.
Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in a social science. Master's degree preferred.
3-5 years of professional work experience working in a position that required understanding of various business organizational structures required.
At least 3 years of experience developing and supporting student internships, or building relationships within an academic support unit at a higher education institution required.
At least 2 years of advising and program administration experience in a post-secondary educational institution required.
Previous experience in developing and supporting student internships or related experience within a higher education setting preferred.
Previous experience within the entertainment industry at various organizations preferred.

Strong oral and written communication skills to build relationships and deliver upon commitments
Able to handle multiple tasks with ease and have the ability to independently prioritize tasks/duties
Knowledge of Career Management Systems (Symplicity or Handshake)
Ability to work in a small team setting
Familiarity with the Los Angeles area
Support for events on weekends and evenings may occasionally be required
